who compares a 80k car to a 125k car. sounds like chevy bought another comparison. will see how the gtr vspec does this year. with more power and less weight. i don't see it beating the zr1 or the acr viper. those are both awesome cars for the price.

I think they was comparing the power, which i thought didn't make sense still being that the ZR1 makes 505 to the wheels and the GTR makes 406 to the wheels.

Maybe it was that whole japanese supercar hype they was tryin to bring down. But your definitely right who does compare 80k car to a 125k car, although if you walked into a nissan dealership you better believe the GTR isn't goin for 80k try 110k.

i was comparing sticker price to sticker price. you not going to get a zr1 for them msrp of 115 either.

ZR-1s go for ~$150k and many times even more.

It is a fantastic car and will outperform damn near any other car on the road. Problem is, for that kind of money, you're straying dangerously close to F430, Gallardo, and 911 GT2 territory, and, I just can't see myself picking the 'Vette over any one of those three. On the other hand the Z06 is the way to go, IMO; it's not a whole lot slower and is a whole hell of a lot cheaper, a true value.

Actually if you viewed the YouTube vid I posted, they have the MSRP at 135k I believe so lets say you walk into Chevy expect to pay 150K as jmp2006 states, but at the sametime your not gettin a GTR for 80k, a friend of a friend knew someone that took a GTR out the dealership for 125k in Queens, NY so thats 25k less which is almost on par price wise...

I don't really see a problem with comparing 'top offering' cars despite the difference in price, but had they had the SpecV it would have been again comparing two cars with the same price difference. This time the ZR1 would be on the bottom end of the spectrum(~115 to ~160), Imagine how much Nissan's going to have to pay to buy that comparison!

I want to see how the vspec does against the ZR1. To me we should be comparing the companies top offerings.

and the 11.3@130 you speak of i hope is reg stock z06. not a zr1.

I was looking on dragtimes.com which is a good site for all cars. Most of the stock newer zo6s were running mid to high 11's around 125 mph, where as the zr1s are low 11s around 130mph stock

It's already been proven that a stock Z06 can hit 10's with the right driver. Sometime at the end of last year a guy hit 10.9 with a stock Z06. I'm talking stock down to the crappy stock tires. Previous record was done early last year and was an 11.0. I'm sure the ZR-1 given this caliber of driver could do far better. That being said the average Z06 driver will probably only see mid 11's. The launch is key to this car given the amount of power it has; really easy to get too much wheel spin off the line

I agree with you, all im saying is that very few z06 drivers will be as fast or faster than the zr1. Your talking about literally a few people that have done this. if you look at the performance numbers from magazines or from the factory or most people that post their times, the z06 cant touch the zr1
