If I put a BOV on my Stage 2 WRX, would it help? I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Why wouldn't the 2 of them be about the same (STi's I mean). They both make right at 300hp/300 lb/ft of torque, and run what I'm guessing is the same 6 speed trans, meaning the same gear ratios. The JDM model is probably a bit lighter because of the differences in crash requirements between here and there, meaning it's probably a bit faster than the 2.5L USDM STi.

I also never said the JDM STi 2.0 is the same as the USDM WRX 2.0. He just said that the WRX has a 2.0 and the STi has a 2.5, which makes the STi faster. My comment was only meant to say that having a 2.5 does not automatically make the STi faster, because the JDM STi runs a 2.0 engine, and it certainly isn't slower than the USDM model.

I think the WRX is a better platform to start modding with because it has a weaker motor, therefore when you blow it up, you won't have wasted as much money on gas in the short period of time you have owned it, and since the car will be younger when it dies it will have depreciated less and you can get a better resale value for it. My logics are flawless.

Is it just me or are the 2008 WRX's just plain ugly? I've never heard it discussed on any forum...

IMO the 2.0l engines are high-revving and are monsters in the mid to high rpms where the 2.5l suck.

I didn't realize that the 2.5l "sucked" in mid- high rpms, relative to the 2.0l...

    to answer your question...

vf39 or vf43 turbo (new) will run you around 1300 bucks
STI top mount intercooler (new) will cost you around 640 bucks
an AP will run you around 700 (new) so you can get to a tuner
a pro tune will cost you 300 bucks. and a TBE exhast can run anywhere between 600 bucks to 1400 bucks
so grand total is 3340-4040 bucks if my math is right.

you will be running with a stage2 STI.

this is just the engine, and its if you do all the labor yourself and you can buy the parts used and go open source tuning to bring that final number down.

will your 5MT survive? only time and driving style will tell.
