I have to disagree with you here. I have had my GT35R since the car had 11k on it and now it has 79k on it. The car is very fun to drive on the street, especially now that I run E85 and 30psi. It doesn't quite run 10s, but we will see next time I hit the track. I finally grew some nuts and cranked the timing up.
If you tune a car like a noob and don't keep track of what your car is doing on logs, then yes, it will probably lack reliability.
I will say that I wouldn't want to drive my car daily, but that is only because I don't want to keep racking the miles up so quickly.
As far as an 18G wrx beating the cars listed, it should be capable of it with proper driving.
