18g wrx vs stock EVO 9

I've spent time with a C6 Z06, as well; it's a very impressive machine. Locally, we have a 10 second Evo that walks the 'Vette, but it isn't exactly fun to drive on the street. One of these days I'd really like to add a C6 to the stable.

I usually advise folks to shy away from heavily modding their cars, if they plan of driving them daily. A IX with basic mods, conservatively tuned at ~21-22PSI (3rd gear spike) can run easy 12s with stock-like reliability and better than stock driveability.

I have to disagree with you here. I have had my GT35R since the car had 11k on it and now it has 79k on it. The car is very fun to drive on the street, especially now that I run E85 and 30psi. It doesn't quite run 10s, but we will see next time I hit the track. I finally grew some nuts and cranked the timing up.

If you tune a car like a noob and don't keep track of what your car is doing on logs, then yes, it will probably lack reliability.

I will say that I wouldn't want to drive my car daily, but that is only because I don't want to keep racking the miles up so quickly.

As far as an 18G wrx beating the cars listed, it should be capable of it with proper driving.

Honestly, a car that I requires "close monitoring of logs" does not fit my definition of a reliable daily driver. I suspect that I am not alone in this. Congrats to you for owning such a track animal, though.

Straight line drag races past 50mph the 18g rex wins. Any race that involves turning WRX loses against both. Any race that shuts down before the WRX gets to stretch 3rd gear, it loses to the EVO and likely beats the Elise. The 18g is a nice turbo but it would not be a total blowout till up around 60mph where the EVO's stock tune and the Elise's small engine would start to hold them back. Now if it was a stage 2 reflashed EVO...you better bring your A game because they make WRX 18g numbers with just a couple mods and a tune.

Actually the 18G is a monster in 3rd gear. It's not the stock small turbo it use to be. 3rd gear is where the engine come alive and shows it true power. 2nd gear is nothing compared to 3rd gear. That's what the tuner told me. It's the gear I rip everyone apart.
