    Fastest car/ best gas prices

What is the fastest/most perfroamance over car for the gas?
I was thnkn along the lines of these
Acura Rsx- Vtec, not to fast, excellant gas and not premium, handles ok
Wrx- fast, premium gas, poor gas milege
Acura Rsx-type s, v tec good handling, Worth premium over base rsx?
Mini Cooper S- Excellent handling, not too fast, premium gas
Mazda 3- good gas and handling, slow
Mustang Gt- Pretty fast, bad gas milege, regular gas
Infiniti G35- great looks, decent speed, 6 cyl, premium gas
Vw GtI- premium gas, medium everything

Suggestions on differant cars or these please

Depends on what your needs are.

AWD only comes in the WRX/G35. If snow & ice are a big concern, these may be the choices that you're stuck with. If you don't want an auto, you're stuck with the WRX (the G35 6-speed only comes in the RWD model).

As for the RSX vs RSX-S and the question of premium gas: in NY, 93-octane gas is $3.95-4/gallon, while 87-octane is about $3.70-3.75/gallon. This is a 6% increase. The RSX is 160hp, while the RSX-S is 200hp. This is a 25% increase. The fun factor outweighs the slight overhead from increased gas price, IMHO.

The Mustang is fast, but it's only RWD, and in snow, this could be an issue.

The Mini is like a go-kart. The thing may not be fastest in a straight line, but it's so fun to corner.

Mazda3 can not be put this in the same category as the other vehicles

The Mini Cooper S, Mazdaspeed 3, or RSX-S would probably be good combinations of power and economy.

You left off used GTO's and the new Pontiac G8 GT.

If you are looking at used cars anything LSx based will probaly give you the best HP for MPG ratio.

What's so "bad" about the WRX's gas mileage? Would you expect 24mpg in town from a car that also has horsepower? I get 17-18 mpg city in my Legacy and I'm always WOT.

Is it because it can't do 30 mpg on the interstate? That's Subaru's fault for not giving these cars a deep overdrive gear. It doesn't even have to be a 6spd -- the 2.5 has the torque to pull 5 properly spaced gears just fine.

In the end, you're not going to save anything simply by buying gas that's 20 cents a gallon cheaper. You're buying a car; a major expense. If you don't think you'd have $2 per tank to fill it with premium you might be operating on too tight a budget.

My truck has a 26 gallon tank and burns premium (due to mods) at 10 mpg. Try filling that a few times!

But I complete agree on any of the LSx series cars. A later model Vette (c5/c6)..I'm thinking of shoving an old LS1 or LT1 motor into my older jeep cherokee. How awesome would it be to do AWD burnout from a stop?
