Im not a honda hater. I dislike most typical honda owners.. I've owned quite a few honda products, of which most would wipe up your SI like a mop to water.

But I've also owned VWs, too. So yes, I know both sides of this conversation. The GLI is no rocket, by any means, but the Si isn't the Godsend that you make it out to be, either.

I know this is an opinionated thread, and we all have our own opinions, and you are definitely entitled to yours. But your opinion doesn't make everyone else's opinion "wrong"..

edit: to add to the fact that honda products are, indeed, quick, in support of your opinion.. When my WRX was Stg2, I played around with a friend of mine, in his 2002 RSX-S. He cleaned my clock, after I killed him from a dig. 3rd gear, and I was looking at his taillights..

Too bad an r32 would stomp any other car mentioned in this thread including your Bugeye.

HAHA, that is hilarious! Doesn't that Si do 0-60 in like 7.1?? I mean, seriously, a 1.8t or 2.0t GTI/GLI will absolutely roast an Si Civic. I'm not a Honda "hater", I actually had a '98 integra type R for a couple years that I loved (until it got stolen...)

There is a C&D article (http://www.caranddriver.com/features...preza-wrx.html) that shows this comparison, although they feature a GTI instead of a GLI. If anything, the GLI would be a bit slower because of extra weight, but the 1/4 trap speeds for the GTI an WRX are only 1mph different. So, if you're going at it from a roll, it'd probably be pretty close (edge to the REX).

Edit: Since you're comparing an '05 (1.8t not the newer 2.0t) I'd say you should take him pretty easily...

I can also add, that my old Mk2 '91 GLI 16v 2L was a friggin rocket from 0-100. then I would be getting closer to the end of the tacho.
Even at 65mph, 5th gear, I could roll into the throttle, and prolly accelerate like the 2.0L turbo WRX does. Gearing was key with it, though, as it only had 135hp or so.. But pulled like a damned truck!
Umm but the 05 GLI is rated for 180 horsepower - And the I don't think the cd is that good - maybe on the new one it is but not on the the one im talking about - its a box
