Why is it that every thread I see, when the car is undoubtedly slower, some how it will win? The car is bone stock with an auto. Sure with mods it could be faster but, it's bone stock. I cant stand it when people talk up cars "well if it had this this and this." Well... it doesn't. It's bone stock.

If you have problems beating a bone stock auto maxima in your wrx, you sir are an idiot.

You are taking magazine numbers of someone who probaly launched the crap out of the WRX and indicating any Joe Racer will be able to pull that 1/4 mile time or trap speed.

This is not a Viper vs. a Ford Escort.

The VQ has a ton of torque and decent top end. Take the launch away from the WRX and you have a horrible high 15 second car.

Again, keep subtracting from the wrx, why not both? Take the launch away from the maxima and factor in an auto.

I am foolish enough to think that every wrx owner can pull 14's in their car?

"Under the Hood: There's only one engine in the 2004 Nissan Maxima but it's a beauty. The 3.6 liter DOHC V-6 delivers 265 hp plus 255 lb.-ft. of torque."

Hmmm....yeah....265 hp without 20% drivetrain loss doesnt seem all that bad. Not to mention the VQ is going to have a rather flat torque curve.

There are two tranny options for the auto as well. 4 speed or 5 speed.

My God... So much misinformation here.

Regardless of what you fanboi teenage acting retards think, the wrx is not a Bugatti... Just the same, the Maxima is quicker than most think or are willing to admit.

The 3.5L Maxima's are putting out between 255-265 hp (the one is question is 265) and surprisingly they only weigh about 250-300lbs more than a wrx... despite its size.

The Maxima in question when talking about Magazine racing is a high 14sec car @ 97mph roughly. That means that from a dig, the wrx should win if the guy can drive. From 35mph, it will be close. From 65mph I would put money on the maxima. They pull hard and that VQ puts out torque like a V8.

6spd Maxima's are even worse for you wrx fan boi's. They consistantly run mid 14's @ 97/98 with a handful of good drivers getting the 3.5L maxima's into low 14's @ 98/99mph.

For reference: I own a modded wrx. I used to own 2 maximas, and my mom owns a maxima.

I am going to laugh when you guys talking trash in your stock wrx's get burned by a 6spd Maxima.

    Oh yeah.....

My mom's auto 3.5L Maxima regularly beats my friends stock 04' wrx from a roll. And even from a stop he gets a 2 car jump and by 100mph I am hanging less than a car back.

A guy on here (forget his user name) ows a wrx and recorded vids a few times of him running his friends 3.5L 6spd Maxima.

Stock for stock was a drivers race from a dig and the maxima always won from a roll.

At stage2 in the wrx and intake, exhaust, header, ecu in the maxima was close with the wrx pulling a win from a dig, and the maxima inching away from a roll.
I think that's why i've always liked the Maxima... People like you guys underestimate it so much for what it is.

If you love the Maxima so much why not have your SN changed to DTR Maxima?

Do we know that this maxima has the fantastic and magnificent vq35 though? Isn't there some 4 cylinder that comes standard?

According to my research in 04 there is only the 3.5 motor.
