ok, well it seems to me that the 08 accord is a massive contender. As a college student with a limited budget, and virtually no modding budget... It seems that the new 3.5L V6 pushing 268 horsepower is gonna make most stock WRX owners feel slow... Not that they are slow, but when your beaten, or almost beaten by a stock accord then well, it doesn't help the self esteem.
Edmunds says...
08 WRX - 14.5 seconds at 94.4 mph and 0-60 of 5.9 seconds
08 V6 accord - 14.6 seconds at 101.6 mph and 0-60 of 6.3
Well, What do yall think? I just know I don't want to line up next to an accord and feel kinda scared of loosing...

What are the odds that people who are looking to race their cars haven't modded?
I'm not surprised that a new N/A 3.5 v6 is close in performance to a F/I 2.5 h4.
Look at the upgrade paths for both engines. Assuming you are looking for reliability and a reasonable budget - the Honda would get a Comptech S/C, and the WRX would get a turbo upgrade. I'd expect the slight variance in performance would remain about the same.

The harsh truth is that there are several inexpensive V6 sedans on the market that can run with (or beat, depending on circumstances) a stock WRX. Once rolling, my wife's 250hp V6 minivan can pick up speed pretty impressively. Life goes on.
