Honestly, the cars are pretty close in performance at stock levels. I'd call it a drivers race. But yeah, you definitely have the edge going on specs alone. When is the last time the cars had a tune up/oil change? How much stuff do you have in your car, how much stuff did he have in his? Passengers count for weight too. It's a well known old saying in automotive performance circles that 10hp=100lbs=.1sec qtr/mile.

we both had 1 passanger, his trunk and back seats were empty. i had a fold up table and all my clothes and passengers clothes in my trunk (we were heading back to school from being home for the weekend). plus he is a MUCH better driver than i am. i guess all that taken into consideration it should have happened.

The later year Mark 4's in 6spd manual trapped in the 94/95mph range so if you went frumarole and are new to driving this could explain it.
Either way, learn to drive your car better.

If he can't even drive his car well enough to not consistantly lose to a stock Mark4 VR6 then brake boosting should be the least of his concerns. He'll probably just screw up his car at this point.
