With my Cobb 2.5 map I walked a stage 2 SRT pretty hard. I raced an 04 EVO with tbe, intake, and a tune and put about a car on him.
Cobb Stage two and a half.

I don't know much about EVO's but from what I've seen they really don't start making crazy power till they get cams. But just to let you know what kind of power. TurboTrix just did a EVO IX with TBE, Intake, Cams and a tune and it made 374awhp.
Evo IX's Run 115MPH without cams, Evo VIII's run 12.3 @ 110 without cams. With cams they are 11 second cars. This of course requires a good driver and a 1.68 60 foot time.

a Stage 4 WRX should put down 270 - 300 awhp on pump gas, depending on how much lag you're willing to live with, and the tune. anything beyond that would probably need race gas, although i'm not too sure on that one, as the stock WRX block can't handle much past that.

Not worth the money to make something "possibly" faster than something else. You can spend so much money on something and there will always be someone faster than you. It's just a fact. However, if you want to have fun and learn, go for it. The EVO is a really nice platform, but people complain about reliability when modding. That's the risk with any car. Anytime you change something that's not intended to be changed, there's always a risk of something happening. You just need to take that into account and be careful. You gotta pay to play and sometimes you pay much more than you intended. :x
