    WRX vs. Buick Park Avenue(S/C)

Raced the late model s/c park avenue. We stopped at the light and he was reving his engine. As the light turns green, he's spinning the tires and I'm 2+ car ahead w/o launching I put him where he belongs: parked ave.

s/c park avenue: 240 hp/280 tq FWD with ~3900 lbs (too heavy!).
    AWD rules.

Just be careful - there are some Grand Prix's (and I'd assume Park Avenues as well) that will totally surprise you. Plenty of them run 11s and some quicker, and not always on slicks. A FWD on regular tires will never equal an AWD takeoff but once they reach 2nd and 3rd gear it can get ugly.

    LOL, nice one

Just to nitpick, Park Avenues are significantly heavier than GTP's (GTP is about 3450 curb weight). The Buick equivalent would be the Regal GS (same drivetrain), which is actually about 50 pounds less than the Grand Prix.

Anyway, launching a GTP w/o spinning is hard enough. I can imagine it being even harder with 500 extra pounds
    06 GTO - yeah, it's pretty quick
    Grand Prix GTP-gone

the regal gs' are no slouches...but I wouldnt DARE pin em up against a wrx. (unless the driver of the wrx was a complete IDIOT and could not drive)

Well, the GS has the exact same mod potential as a GTP, which stock for stock is a pretty close matchup for a WRX (unless from a stop). The Regal does have a less aggressive PCM and softer suspension, but those can be corrected and than it's just a GTP in a Buick body. If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten a Regal GS over my Grand Prix. Same potential, but with more comfort

More than a bit. It's quite different from stg 1. Subaru should offer each stage as an option!

believe it or not, those things can move. obviously, i can never imagine myself in a Buick, but those engines are extremely moddable and can get very powerful very quickly. don't ask me why, but the first forum i ever joined was the Regal forums

When i had my A4(1.8T Sport 5Spd) i got stomped by a Buick Regal s/c. It dusted the **** out of me. I didn't stand a chance. That is when i bought my WRX. Now I'm gonna go find that little ****er.

Haha but those A4s are really slow too. Good thing you upgraded kinda.

But yeah...nice kill. That line is classic...parked ave.
