Ah nuts. Beat by another SRT4 in Newark...

On my way home from Newark DE last night an SRT4 found me on the streets. I dont know what was done to it, but I figured it was going to have some balls . It was red with black tint, no spoiler and had one of those loud gurgling exhausts that I typically hear on SRTs. I on the other hand am a Cobb stage 2 (DP + Exhaust) hoping for a protune this summer.

Regardless, we got a race starting at about 35 or so and from 2nd to the end of 4th we were neck and neck with him pulling very slowly on me. Once I got to fifth though he starting gaining more and it was apparent the race was over after about 5 seconds in 5th since he was gaining steadily.

It would have been an even closer race I think if I didnt have my passenger and also the stock exhaust in the trunk, but no excuses... DAMN I will beat an SRT4 one day lol!!

Any of the guys from Newark know this guy and what he has done?

Also, after that race we cruised next to each other for a little and another white SRT4 came up with a CF hood. Both looked really nice.

nice loss! I have learned too to never ever underestimate them.... With that 2.4L engine, it seems all too easy for them to make some really good power out of them.... Very impressive cars..

    Patrick,
If it's the same car, he pulled a 13.8 at Cecil last Friday. You would've smoked him from a stop.

When did you go stage 2? About time!!!!! How are those shifter bushings treating you? Sounds like the mod bug has finally bitten.

    Hey Scott...

Haha shifter bushings and whiteline steering bushings are still sitting in my closet

If it IS the same car then I think I would have done MUCH better. A stage two STi doesnt seem like it would lose to a 13.8sec neon from a roll... right?

From a roll, you can never underesitmate an SRT4. A 13.8 time on an SRT4 without slicks is very close to a stage 2 STi...in a rolling race. From a dig, it's no contest.

Whats up with those bushings? Easier to put in then the exhaust...honest!

i would like to see anyone get to the top of 4th gear coming out of the streets of newark. The roads are S*** plus there are cops everywhere. I raced that neon back when i was stock from a roll and he beat me by about 6 cars, From a stop i had him. But i never got half way through 3rd the roads are too bad up there. DE roads suck
Driving a WRX is like having a big d*ck; it's not immediately obvious to everyone, but you have to just rest assured that when it comes time to put it to use, you won't need to explain a whole lot afterwards!!

^^ I dont think the roads are bad at all, and also most cops are focused on main street, not the streets leading to it.

This race went from from the top of main street towards 95 (by the toyota dealership).

there plenty of places out elkton newark rd that has the room to do that. i know cause i've done it. i know its not safe so no preaching. only done it once. racing a mustang, stopped at 120. also with a large enough power supply getting there doesn't take near as much space as most street cars.
