    03 wrx vs 05 gto

So I was driving home the other day and saw a pretty blue gto pull out in front of me. He still had the temp tags on it. I was thinking to myself how bad he would spank me if we raced and low and behold we catch a red light right next to eachother. We both looked over and smiled. When the light changed we both pulled off regularly, then he hit it so I went after him and to my surprise started pulling on him. I pulled about 1/2 a car and stayed like that to 80 where he stopped. I don't know what model it was but i saw a 6.0 badge on the trunk. I thought they were fast.

They are fast, but they are also heavy.
The earlier year GTO has 350hp I believe. The newer ones got the 400hp ls2 that the C6 has.

A guy I work with has one of the newer ones with 400hp and its damn quick. I ride in it about once a week.
The way to tell the difference is the hood. The one with hood scoops is 400hp, and the one without is 350 (I think, might be a little more or less).

Stock 6.0 LS2 GTO is usually good for low 13's with a good driver. I see you're modded, what kind of times are you running. Also keep in mind, the RWD LS engines shine more up top and a WRX running somewhere in the 13's could get a good jump till 80. Pretty sure that if you two both kept going, the GTO would have pulled and pulled.

    Nevertheless, nice race.
    06 GTO - yeah, it's pretty quick

I've run the 350 pony vers before. We were both stock and it was dead even. We went from 50 to about 100mph. My buddy has a stage 2 wrx and we are very close. I dont think that car is very impressive, but the new 400hp one should run good.

Don't know what times i run. I've never taken her to the track. Yea i'm modded but not that much. My list is as follows.
    Helix up/down pipe
    Apexi gt spec cat back
    apexi intake
    mbc at 16.5#
and that is it for now. I have a lightweight pulley coming in this week from static x motorsports. After that I will probably get headers and utec. Oh yea... and i'm sure if we were to keep going after 4th gear he would have pulled.

One thing which should be taken into consideration is that the 6.0L GTO comes as both a 6spd manual and 4 spd automatic. In the auto, the gears are spaced pretty widely and acceleration is at least 0.5seconds off of the manual cars in the 1/4...

    Btw, nice kill!

This thread has made it way over into the GTO forums, thats how I found out about it.

I could see a modded WRX (stage 2 ish) getting a slight jump up to 80mph on an 05 GTO. The post mentioned the GTO had paper tags on it. I would bet the GTO owner left the traction control on, which really hurts performance. The traction control really holds back power. The best I could do at the track with the traction control on was 13.8 @ 104 mph.

Also, another thing is 05 GTO's really don't get there act together until about 80+mph. WRX's run pretty stong up to 80mph.

When I ran 13.1 @ 108 mph in my 05 GTO, I had a very slow 8.7 sec 1/8 mile. That just shows you how slow I ran the first 1/8 mile.
I ran as fast as 8.40 @ 83 mph in my stage 2 WRX in the 1/8 mile. That would have beaten my 05 GTO up to 80mph.
But after the 1/8 mile, the GTO pulls much harder, which is represented by the 108 mph trap speed.

I have no doubt that the gto would have started pulling on me after i hit 4th gear. We were on a 45mph road and i didn't feel like going to jail though.
