    Mazdaspeed 6 > WRX

before you guys start, i owned a bugeye and thoroughly modified it.

so the MSP 6 and WRX are roughly the same price, only the Mazda has more power, torque, less drivetrain losse because of Haldex AWD, better acceleration, better grip and slalom numbers, more sophisticated looks, quicker steering ratio, better brakes, and a 6 speed. in a recent motor trend article, the MSP whooped the LGT in every performance category as well.

    discuss.

I happen to like the mazda 6. It looks alright, drives pretty nicely, but I couldn't give up the boxer rumble for that. Im interested in why you got rid of the wrx for that?

umm, since when is the MS6 under $25,000? "Starting at $28,555" -mazdausa.com. And i doubt you will get any discounts on this brand new rocket saloon.

I wouldnt really compare it to the WRX. That just isnt fair. Its a near full size car w/ more HP, and more refinement.

MS6 vs LGT makes perfect sense.

I like the car, i just dont like a) its really a ford, b) scoop > ram air, c) computers deciding when to put traction to the rear.

^^ What he said. KBB shows the MSRP of a WRX TR as $24K'ish, the Mazdaspeed 6 is about 4 grand more, a substantial difference.

I think that the Mazdaspeed 6 is a great car. Most folks here will probably agree. There's more to deciding what car you like than just numbers on a page, however.

Have there been any God-4 vs '06 WRX threads yet? I cant wait to see the bloated and heavy Caliber SRT-4 AWD vs WRX thread.

there are some threads on the MS6 on legacygt.com. I wouldnt want to pay nearly $30k for something new when you can wait a year or so and buy it for $17k. There will not be that many out there and most dealers are asking over $30k for theirs initially. Mazda makes a good car, but I wouldnt give up my LGT for a mazda. I am at stage 1 now (290/305) and will be going to stage 2 in a week or so (305/345) then for a protune that should put me up around the 280 or 290 awhp range.

The power of opinion. You gotta love it.
So I took it you test drove it? You totally failed to mention the 'joy factor'. Sure, I know that there are cars out there that put down/run better numbers than the WRX, but the ultimate measure is the JOY FACTOR. How did you FEEL in it?
That's one of the very reasons why I still own my 03 wagon....EVERY SINGLE DAY I jump into that toy, I FEEL good.
(jumping into a ford, i'd be afraid it would snap)
    LET'S GO COLTS!!!
I have 5 infraction points. What do you have?

It is only a matter of time - the SRT4 trolls will find it.

another thing to look at is how does it like mods? we all know the WRX and LGT take mods pretty well and there are a lot of proven companies out there with a subaru history.

other than the rx-7 and newer rx-8's, there has not been a huge market in mazda aftermarket except some minor mazdaspeed protege stuff. i am not sure i would want to test the waters in mods with a $30k mazda.

With such a small number being produced it is less likely that companies will develop MS6 specific upgrades.

Plus, i'm pretty sure that MS cars can only be serviced at MS approved dealerships.
