That is pretty awesome...you can definitely see that the awd reduces the power substantially. 3rd gen rx7's get into the 9's with a little over 600hp (not all of them...but you get my drift).
Of course a honda civic comes from the factory running 9's in the quarter

Of course a 2800lb car will need less power than one that weighs 3200lb

Actually they are closer to 3100lbs. Unless you have the base model and strip the interior and have no gas in it. I weighed mine without me in it and it tipped the scales over 3k, with a half tank of gas. I am going to weigh my wrx soon, so I will be able to tell you how much of a difference there really is. Even still, a full interior rx7 w/rollcage ect will hit low 9's in the quarter with around 600hp.

If you factor the rx7 at 2900lbs with 600 hp, it is 4.83 lbs per 1hp
If you factor the wrx at 3200lbs with 700 hp, it is 4.57 lbs per 1hp
and the wrx is still running a tad slower.....seems like more parasitic drivetrain loss to me, which isn't unbelievable since the suby drives two more wheels than the rx7.

If you are wondering how I weigh my car...I use the local dump scales, they are suprisingly accurate.

Uhm NO, GVWR on a 93 r1 w/ mt is a hair over 3200lbs. that would mean the car is only rated to carry an 100-110lbs???

If you look over on RX7club youll find that ppl are checking in between 27-2900lbs.

i don't know why people drool over these cars.

some filthy rich company wants to make money off our asses so they build a one-off special so all the ricers can buy their parts with confidence. Ali Afshar is another example; he's a businessman in the car business, there are much better car guys to appreciate.

i'm more impressed with a guy that bags groceries for a living, saves every penny he has, and still manages to come up with a clean, respectably modded WRX.
    embattled, we prevail...only victory exhaled.
