    A couple of things to add to GV27:

    The WRX wagon handles almost as well as the sedan, and is actually faster in the slalom!

    Boost is nice at high altitude - doesn't loose as much power as NA.

    RS4 is over $58k I think. You could have your sportwagon and another car for that money. I don't think you'd want your dog tearing up the back of a $58k car either.

    S4 Avant is also over $40k. Don't think you'd want a dog in there either.

    The only thing that I would have wanted instead would have been a 3 door fastback WRX. (Kind of like an Integra/Supra/etc. body WRX.) I only need room for skis or mountain bike. But the low wagon hatch liftover beats hefting a mountain bike over my Integra high hatch height. The sloped hatch probably wouldn't work well for your dog either. And I don't need back seats for kids.
