    STI vs 05 GTO

My friend with a GTO has been talking a while about how he would beat me. He has a K&N intake and a short shifter, while I have APS 3" TBE and Up-pipe. I took him by about 4 cars after 80mph but we are at 6000 feet. We have raced 3 times with the same results. Now hes pissed because he paid more for his car and Im killing him. Hes talking a lot about putting a super charger on his car or turbo.

No, this guy is my friend and I know what he has. Its an 05, after I got my UTEC I took him out by even more but that goes without saying.

It was a while ago, but I think 20-80 or 30-90. Our most recent stuff has been from a dig because he was talking s**t. The GTO gears are a lot farther apart than ours are. Im going in to 4th around 80 while hes just getting into 3rd.

I forgot to mention on the roll it was closer but I still put about a car length on him maybe a little bit more.

well, the 05 gto weighs 3800 lbs with 400 hp 395 tq, about 350 WHP.

the most that STi will put down is like 260 WHP with just TBE.

I would think the gto would win from a roll, unless your driving skill is far more superior.

Because we are tight we did dynos at the same place. Corrected numbers for both cars were 280 for my TBE and up-pipe to the wheel while he was 335 or to the wheel. So I have a few things in my favor, the first being Ive been racing a lot longer than he has and the second we are at 6000 feet so he is loosing a lot more hp than I am. Once he gets some more experience and if we go to sea level Im sure he would take me from a roll especially at higher speeds. And his tq numbers to the wheel were 343 corrected.

hehe...good kills. Elevation is teh suck, but worse for NA motors.

Try your friend from about a 60-70 MPH roll (start). I'll bet you get a very different result.
