my sti vs my friends 350z (freeway run)

last night we were heading to my friends house and we hit up a freeway thats always empty late night. My friend in his 350z vs my sti. We both had a passenger, my mods are helix downpipe with cobb stage 2 reflash (stock catback) vs 350z mods intake/headers. I know its not a fair race and i've never lost to this car stock or not, roll/launch etc etc. But this time we did 60mph roll. First race we did was 60mph roll with him in 3rd gear and me in 4th. We did 3 honks and went and i pulled instantly and by the time i hit around 130 in his own words i had him by buslengths so that wasnt too interesting. Than we decided to go again, this time we made it more interested. Me in 5th gear him in 3rd gear again 60mph roll. I gave him 2 gears , we honked and went. He pulled about 1/2-1 car at first i stopped his pull than blew by him. I love all this torque . Now i appreciate the short gears too haha, 60mph in 5th gear im still around 3k . Were gonna try a roll with me in 6th and him in 3rd to see what happens. We might have to go a little higher for that one, maybe around 70mph.

thats why i gave him 2 gears haha, but he has a cbr600 rr so he can give me gears with that and destroy me haha.

Sweet, fun runs are the best. My dad has yet to break his Z loose because he is nowhere near a 1,000 miles.

Should be in 3rd with a quick bam 4th gear shift and pull on him baadly

3rd gear 60mph is stupid for a sti, you have all that low end torque, rpm is just way too high at that point, i rather be in 4th.

I agree anythig between 50-100 I start in 4th save a shift and the car pulls just fine. Today I actually pulled the Sti out first time in 2 weeks and with a 20-30 degree colder temp car felt like a missle. Modded is the way to go feels like the hand of God pushing you.

You should have seen the crap that went down over at LS1GTO after I posted

I raced this guy with a 350z and walked him big time in 3rd gear (many cars). He gave up. So I posted the race. Then some trash talking started between some GTO members and some guys over in a 350 forum.
Next thing I know my thread is taken over by 350z owners taking smack.
" try racing a 350z in the twisties"
" GTO's are only fast in a straight line"
" GTO's are ugly"
bla bla bla

You get the idea. They just can't say, "good race, you smoked by axx."

How are you liking the GTO? See you started it, after you sold your sti I sold mine. I'm 2 months in with my S60R, love it. Not as fast as my sti but its much nicer in all other respects. Sometimes miss the "rawness" of my sti though. Went over with a buddy to a friend of his today....he has a SRT10 viper, the new one but it has some stage kit on it (I think he said stage 5 for those that know vipers).....headers....cams......exhaust...k&n.... ecu reflash. The car was NICE. Got some video of it at his house.
