Stage 1 WRX vs. J20 Civic Hatch

Crusing with my wife tonight and I see a couple of Civic Hatch's, one was all beat down and another looked decent with some nice rims. The nice one got up beside me and revved (at the worst roads for racing in the entire city, 30mph and always a cop) anyway, I just smiled and kept going. About a mile down the road (past the bad section) we hit a red light, he has his friend in there with him and they want to race. I ask what he has and he says a J20 engine??? I don't really know what that is, but I guess maybe the RSX engine?? So the light goes green and i jump to a 3 car length lead and then hold it for about 1/4 mile. He may have been catching but I'm not sure. We ran one from a roll, but I was in front, and he pretty much stayed with me if not pulling up a little. So what is the J20?? I guess if it is the Type-S then it has 200HP in a car that weighs nothing, so the results seemed pretty close to what it should have been.

The was my first race, so I was all shaking and excited and stuff, 1-0 for me

Yeah I have never heard of J20. There is a J25,30,32 and 35. They are V6's In such cars as CL's,TL's Accords, and all the new SUV's/Ridgeline. Oh by the way the RSX is a K20A.

Yeah that sounds right. Although I personally think they are way overrated as far as swaps go. 5k for the motor and a buttload of customizing. But still looks good tho and Im sure its a quick car.

Yea it's the new unique swap.. hasport even has mounts ofr the swap i think. Great swap... k20 into a hatch can get you mid 12's with bolt on's... something the old GSR/b16/itr motor could NEVER dream of. I guess it's the torque increase?

Yeah. Definately an improvement. Although I personally would rather just bolt on a turbo kit to the stock B18b or c motor. OR swap in an h22 or Accord type S.(i think)

That's one thing about Hondas... you never know what you're getting yourself into if you race one. They might be the cleanest looking car you've seen and have absolutely nothing under the hood while the crapiest beater civic might have a swapped motor w/ a turbo.

I've definitely had my share of both.

True enough.. Sadly though I have only found the slow ones.
