i we did do a run i didnt mention after we got back into town.....

i took AWDturbo's advice, we went from 25 mph, and i just kept it in 2nd and he was in 1st probly humming along at around 7k,. and we hit it and he got a litte jump, but i just sat back and let it rev thro the meat of the powerband and when i shifted into 3rd he was already a car behind,

then later that night, hes was all " you should have started in 1st that race, you would have done better,"

i was just think to my self how much of a ***** it would have been, i would have almost been at redline

ill post a vid in a couple hours............im lazy

awesome, dont listen to him ..25mph roll against a vtec car with actual speed is death for you until way up there when you pull him back, your out of your powerband and you will hit rev trust me, i learned the hard way. But nice job staying in 2nd, most people wont trust cars torque and are afraid of races like that, good kills!

at what speed did they start?? probably at 15-20 mph, anything higher s2k would of held him off for longer.

I'm surprised you didn't pull him a little better. I ran a S2k (older 02-04 perhaps) and started from 3rd @ ~90km/h (nice spot for 3rd.) The guy had been tailgating me, moved over once the street went to two lanes and proceeded to try and fly by me. I waited for him and as soon as his front was near my passenger door, I floored it (I started early to negate the extra speed he had built up going around me.) By 5th he was 3 cars or so back.

Out of curiosity, what octane do you run?

I was suprised too at how well the sti performed up top. First race was against a srt-4, i'm guessing that most people underestimate the sti from a roll

Yes..they do. Usually to their detrmiment. Although lb/lb, the SRT4 has it beat in that area.

compared to other cars in its 1/4mile time frame, the STi still has a relatively low trap speed. The car runs low 13's but only traps the 103/104 area. These are traps that many cars in the high 13's are doing, and many low 13sec cars are solid in the 106-108 range. BUT, because the STi has better gearing, more torque, and the turbo breathes better, its trap speed is much better relative to its 1/4mile time than the wrx's still.. So yes, even though its not as good as others in that time bracket, it is still better than many expect by going off of the wrx's ratio.

i raced my 2001 S2k against a 2003 WRX in February or March this year and was able to beat the WRX, but not by much. I think it was more of a drivers thing too. He was relatively new to his WRX still, so his shifting and launch wasnt nearly as quick and smooth as mine in the S2k. I think a stage 2 WRX would destroy and S2k from a stop...and depending what gear you are in...should still win on a roll, but if the S2k is in a good RPM...be ready because it could just take off too....
