It can happen but he should have been coming on like a freight train at about 100mph. I was running 12.7 @ 108 mph (stage 4 WRX with upgrade Top mount IC) and ran a buddies 03 Cobra with similar mods. I beat him big time off the line. I kept my lead until about 90mph and then he blew by me like I was sitting still.

With drag radials he runs low 12s @ 116+ mph at the track.

So I would assume there is something wrong with his Cobra if he wasn't catching up to you at higher speeds.

    Nice kill...

If it was always about the car, then it would never be about the driver... YOU beat him, good job.

ie IRS on Cobras... the 99 Cobra was the first with IRS. They didn't build one in 2000 but continued in 01. The 02-04s had it too, (not to mention that sick SC 4.6). You can't go buy an 04 Cobra Convertible and take it to the track... its too fast without a roll bar!

Very possible... but I wasn't even *thinking* of the "R" That car is a full on race car. No back seat, no radio, AC, etc... the dealership I bought my 96 GT at had ONE... behind ropes. It was beautiful... and scary! At least the Cobra is a daily driver, (my 99 was one)...

Actually the rules have changed to allow 03 and 04 stock Mustang Cobras convertibles to run at the track without a roll bar. This was printed in a recent issue of Hot Rod (I don't remember what issue though). Modern vehicles may now go into the 11's without the roll bar according to Hot Rod.

    Nice Kill.
I am running about the same thing as you except I am running a vf30 with stock clutch and flywheel.

What is wrong with the lightened flywheel....I was going to go with the same setup as what you are using.....what are the good and bad things about it?

    BTW....I ran a 12.5 with a stock clutch

Lightened flywheel will give you better shifts, but it will cause you to lose some top end..
