    WRX vs STI

from 20-100 I lost by about 2 buslengths, maybe 2 buses and a short bus. You sti guys are fast. Oh and it looked like one of the million highschoolers who got an STI for graduation in Orange county. It's really funny there are suddenly a whole bunch of STI's with paper plates driving around here packed with 17-18 yr old kids.

Well since you are still stock motor wise and running on big 18's I would guess it was a azz wooping.. If I had to guess I would say it would take a stg3 WRX or a few well tuned stg2 to take a stock STi.. The extra 5k to upgrade to the STi is well worth it if you ask me.

man at my high school in houston, theres an srt-4, a bugeye rex, and an sti that park next to each other. and we have 3 evos. and of course the requisite "drrty south" sampling of crappy lowriders and some strange applications of spinners.

Last time I tangled with an Sti on the highway, he came out a couple of buslengths behind by the time i was done with him

I just got dyno-tuned yesterday and put down 229whp. Still not there, but I'm catching up to STI's.

exposing my noobness here, but how much power is lost at the wheels? from what i know, fwd loses the least, followed by rwd and then awd. percentage-wise, how much would you expect to lose?

I cant remember exactly but I thought it was

    10-12% loss for FWD
    12-15% loss for RWD
    24-27% loss for AWD

I highly doubt that. It really depends on the dyno but STis seem to average between 240-250whp. So figure about ~17-20%. In comparison, from the numerous dyno plots I've seen, the FWD RSX seems to lose about 10%.
