Question ME VS 89 camaro

I got one of my buddies that wants to race me in his camaro.. hes got a 1987 vette engine W/flowmasters.. other than that its stock.. what do you guys think...will I get completely creamed?

Assuming you go from a dig, you should win, the 1986 vette engine had 230-240hp, (this is off the top of my head), however since it's nearly 20 years old and more likely than not, it's not in pristine condition so you should have an easy time with it from a dig. From a roll, it will be tighter, but since the 80's Camaros are heavier than the vette, you should edge him out.

If you can drive at all you will smoke him. They are low 15 second cars all day long and thats running VERY strong, with that many years on it more likely mid-high 15's. My friend used to have a 350ci 89 GTA trans am (same thing basically) and me and him would be door to door in my old stock 02 RSX-S from a stop or a roll, and he had intake, headers, chip and i believe a light cam.

I raced a different kid in a 91 (i think) firebird formula with the 350 after I had only had my WRX broken in for about a week and I still beat him by a few cars, and I hadnt really gotten the hang of launching at all, it was no contest.

without a tbe, its more like 10whp, but you wont notice the difference in the UP from the hp gains, but more so from the earlier/stronger spool of the turbo.

I agree the extra hp you gain from the up/pipe is nothing compared to the performance you get from spooling faster and less heat lose..
