What you think of the Mini Cooper S

My friend owns a Mini Cooper S. I have raced him at the track with my celica GTS, and he beat me by about 1 1/2 car lengths, mainly from the start . I was wondering if you guys had any Experiences in racing one of these Mini Cooper S's. How do they compare to the stock WRX or stage 2 wrx? Just wondering.

You should deffinatly be able to beat him, from a stop or a roll, as long as its not the newest year mini cooper-s, they changed the gearing alot and the 05+ model will run high 14's at around 93mph from what I've heard, which is enough to give you a run for the money from a roll. If its any older than that and you can drive well you should smoke him.

Either way from a stop if you can launch well niether should be a problem unless its modded.

And if your stage 2 you should kill him either way, shouldnt even be close from a stop and probably not much prettier for him from a roll either.

not the fastest cars in the world but fun to drive and have great handling.

Against a stageII rex there is no competition. StageII rex > Cooper-S

in the "cute car that you have to be gay to drive" I'd rate it higher than a Miata. By "higher" I mean if I HAD to drive a gay car, I'd rather drive the Mini than a Miata.

i don't know if that would help. its a Mini....it looks like a mini, its resonable quality, and decent performance. some cars are just gay.

Well they are not really THAT bad on performance. The "S" version will run into mid to high 14s with basic bolt on's (s/c pulley, and exhaust) and stock they handle phenominally. If they would just improve on the interior and exterior looks it would be one hell of a car for the money IMO

^^ what? A rex in the twisties would surely own a mini s. AWD vs. FWD.

Just because it is fwd doesn't mean it can't handle. Stock vs. Stock the mini would out handle the scooby, IMO.

    Does not mean anything.

A ford explorer is AWD and tips over at anything over 20mph.

A mini cooper S will significantly ourhandle a wrx. There are several cars that handle better than the wrx for the same price (if not cheaper) and are FWD. For instance: Mazdaspeed protege, sentra SE-R, Mini S, Integra Type R, Cobalt SS, and others.

I'm suprised his mini beat you that badly, I raced one in Denver and it was pretty ugly for him.
