    05 GTO vs 05 Carrera S

On my way home I was behind a new Carrea S. As we pulled up to a green light he moved over into the right lane so we could get next to each other. When the light turned green we both left the line slow. (waiting for the move). I was slightly in front of him watching him in my side mirror. Then all the sudden at about 20mph he nails it. I was ready and nailed it in 2nd gear. Through 2nd gear I kept a very slight lead on him. I shifted into 3rd gear ( 65mph) and I was still slightly in front of him. We were basically side by side through 3rd gear but he was slowly inching up on me. I let off because of up coming traffic around 95mph,and was maybe a bumper or so in front of me. He kept going for a second more and then cut over into the exit lane.

All in all it was a great race. I knew he would be tuff and he was. I'm pretty happy with being able to hang tuff with a new Carrera S from 20 - 95 mph. I'm a little mad I don't have my Headers yet. They are suppose to show up next week. I really needed them for this race.

Thanks, because the race was so close I really think my headers, high flow cats, and x pipe would have done the trick. Most guys are making about 25 rwhp with the above mods. I'm expecting them on the 16th.

I know a guy that ran 12.6 @ 111 mph in his 05 GTO with these mods. I dought I can run that fast but it show the potential of the car with these mods. Thats about what a new
Carrera S runs in the 1/4 mile. So maybe the next time I race him I can pull out a win.

Nice run. A guy tried running me(on my bike) in a new Carrera S. Wasn't even close. I haven't found anything that can hang with me yet(car wise).

nice run...I can never EVER get anyone in a porsche to run me. Do you have wheel spin issues from a 20mph roll? I'm sure the Carrera didn't

No my Nitto's work great. I get pretty good grip even off the line. (just need to slip the clutch a little bit - let it out slowly).
It's all about the clutch. If you drop the clutch (and nail the gas) anywhere in first gear you can roast the tires. I've learned to slip the clutch out. It's taken me awhile to get used to it after driving an STi.

But if I want too I can drop down into 2nd gear around 35-45mph and easily break the tires loose (which is pretty fun when I want to show off). Nothing like downshifting into second gear at 40mph and barking the tires as you blow by someone.

I can also get a nice bark of the tires (slight wheel spin) shifting into 3rd gear at 65mph.

But over all on dry pavement I really don't have any traction issues. The car has traction control but I turn it off as soon as I start it up. (unless it's raining)
