WRX vs lightning....even worth it?

My Stage 2 WRX (13.3 @100 mph - all time best) beat up on many a stock Lightning.

Stock - Lightnings really are not all that fast. A well driven stock WRX could put up a good fight to about 80mph or so.

If we are talking about a stock Lightning.

I also ran a 13.3 with bolt on's, and have a taken a lightning before from a dig.. but chances are that most wrx drivers are only pulling off mid 14's which means that a lightning is going to eat it.

You will get smoked. But I would imagine a Stage II WRX would make for a good race maybe even pull ahead early on.

Yup i raced an older model Lightning with my stage 2 from a interstate exit with 2 lanes, from a stop up to about 135 when we shut down he was about one car back.

The older models were not S/C'd. Good kill.

theyve (SVT) been SC since the last generation body shape. they just tweaked it for an extra 20 crank somewhere.

My fault. I was thinking of the harley davidson edition f150. Early models were n/a then they put the lightning drivetran in them.

Are they still going forward with that or is it just on hold? I keep seeing pics of the new SVT Explorer Trac model with something like a 4.6ltr supercharged engine good for 400hp but that is it. It seems as if the Lightning has fallen off the radar. I wish they would bring them back though with 500 hp.

They will be out in 07 as an 08 model. Oh ya, it may very well be an AWD also

stock your gonna get destroyed, dont show up without a stage 2 platform, even then expect to go down. they are underrated, and capable of 105+trap speeds.

just do it, at least you know how you measure up.

+1 makes for good experience on how you match up against others cars still stock.

Ah, come on, I think we have all picked fights that were like David vs. Goliath. It's not like he has absolutley no chance in hell of at least making a show of it (from a dig of course). Now, when I went after the Porsche Turbo off the line and noticed he was in the next county before I was in 3rd....THAT was asking to be punched in the face.

As a previous owner of a Lightning and a WRX, and friends with a stage 2 WRX owner, if the Lightning is stock, and you know how to drive, you should be able to take him. It will be a good race so just do it!!
