lets see, 220Bhp Vs. 300Bhp which is questionable, the suby will get em on the launch if he doesnt roast his cluch but the stang (sadly) will catch up and pass in 3rd grear..the ratio is better. P.S I hate Mustangs

I'm bored here at work.. anyone want to do some bench racing? What would be the outcome between a stock '02 wrx and one of those new 300 hp Mustangs? (stock of course) And let's assume that the Mustang driver knows how to launch w/out shreddding his shoes.. and let's go from a dig and a launch.. what do 'ya think?

Not to quibble but isn't the stock rex closer to 230 bhp? (227 advertised or some thing like that) Do you know what the weight - power ratio on the 'Stang ? It pretty much looks like a pig. (I like the early '60's 'Stangs, even tho it seems like everyone has one these days)

The wrx will get destroyed once the stang gets traction. I was able to run an 05 GT and it was starting to pull on me once we hit about 95-100mph

I have an '85 police unit ( they are basically same as stock as far as drivetrain, and it pretty much falls down after 5,000 rpm but it has face smashing torque..) Sounds like the've come a long way since then.

A stock 05 mustang would show a stock wrx its taillights for sure. I have no doubt they are easily mid-high 13 second cars. I raced a friend with a 05 GT in my Cobb 2.5, I took him by a few cars in 1st and 2nd, but about mid way through 3rd I would just stop pulling and we would hold like that, he wouldn't gain any and i wouldnt gain any either. I took it up to mid 4th before letting off with him like 3 or 4 cars back, those things come pretty nasty for a factory stock car.

It's funny you mention this. This weekend I went to an all Ford show in PA. And while looking at all the amazing fords I see a black LGT out of the corner of my eye. Normaly I would stop and stare at this car passing....but it did very little for me. So I started to think and paper is one thing and racing is another. I'm faily sure in a straight line all those cars would walk a stock WRX/LGT off the show room. This may sound dumb but there isnt anyway to make up the torque and pure power a v-8 can make with the right gears/driver. Oh well I'm a mustang sucker at heart.
