with that bad of a launch I am thinking the Z might have caught up or even passed him in a 1/4 mile race. A well driven Z with those mods are good for 13.2-13.5 depending on driver.

yeah, I was thinking about that too, because it looks like maybe the 350 gets the jump... Either way though, from the looks of it, if it was a 1/4mile race, I think the 350 would have started to make up a little ground of atleast stop the pulling.

I did have a bad launch.... my 60feet was 2.202. I have had a 300zx TT, and a honda civic si hatchback turbo, so im still getitng used to the AWD launchs, just a little differnt but im getting better

It seemed the other way around not sure, IMO I had a bad launch so I had to make up the ground but it seems the higher the gear and speed it seemed that I was gaining more and more ground offa the 350, and at the end I was almost 2car lengths ahead, so I think if it was a 1/4 mile race I would have beaten him worse... But thats just how it seemed from the drivers seat, I think the turbo would have kept the torque at high end vs the na 6... what do you think?

Heh, yeah, a good launch will put you in the 1.8's or 1.9's, so with a better launch you would have crushed him. The Z does have a pretty good top end, so once the speeds got up to around 90, I don't think you would be pulling too much. Of course, with the lead you had at the end of the 1/8th, you probably would have held him off in the quarter.

good launch in sti puts you in atleast high 1.7's...people even do 1.6's(stock)..more power more wheel spin. i got low 1.7's stock

I hope he had some serious mods, like a supercharger. I happen to be a Crown Vic fan too and while my mildly-modded Grand Marquis was no slouch from 60-120 (would beat a stock WRX in that zone), I don't think it'd be enough to walk you as badly as you described. The 01+ models are quite capable up top once they overcome the sluggish launch.

There are blown cars in the CV community doing 12.50s and faster so it is possible to go fast in any car, no matter how unlikely
