Stg 4 WRX vs. 05 Saleen S281

Wasn't much of a race, we only ran about 200 yards or so. I was sitting behind it at a red light turning left. Its a long light & I could tell he was checking out my car in the rear view. There was one more car in front of him, so when the light changed he punched it to get past the other car, changed lanes, and waited for me to catch up. I was going to drop something off to my wife at work so I only had the 200 yards from the light to her restaurant to run him. It went from about a 10 mph roll to around 60 before I had to hit the brakes and make it into the parking lot. In that short amount of time I put a car on him, but he probably would have caught up had we kept going. I tried to find #'s on these things on Saleen's website, but they only have the #'s from the 04 cars up.

nice run, i made a thread about one of them being given away on the price is right...its a real nice looking car, like you said, not sure about numbers.

It all depends if the saleen was supercharged. I think your stage 4 would do very well even if it was supercharged. Remember some are N/A some aresupercharged. I think there were 3 different engine options. 4.6 N/A, 4.6 supercharged 5.? supercharged also.

The 05 S281's are weak. I don't have the Motor Trend in front of me right now, but there was an article about one in there a couple months ago. The many changes were cosmetic. I think the only performance mods were an intake and a cat-back. it was only like one tenth quicker to 60 and maybe a couple tenths quicker in the quarter. Overall not very impressive for a lot more money.

i remember seeing it and it wasnt much faster down the 1/4 mile due to traction issues but the trap was better.

There is an blue 05 Saleen running around Long Island. He was messing with me on rt 110 about 2 weeks ago. Its mostly just a full body kit and exhaust. I think it looks hot.

No, this one didn't have a blower. Even though it has "S" before 281, that stands for Saleen, not supercharged.

I'm sure Saleen gave it a good suspension treatment however. Anything that can be done to band-aid up the live axle helps on the Mustangs.

I was looking at an Automobile magazine today that compared a bunch of different versions of the 05 Mustang. It gave the S281 even worse numbers than Motor Trend did. The numbers in Automobile for the S281 were actually slower than the stock GT. That was probably due to the bigger wheels and brakes.
