    Cobb Stage2 vs stock SRT-4

I was out with my buddy who owns a stock '04 SRT-4. We were heading out to the highway and stopped next to one another at a light. He had 3 others in the car and I was alone, so I said it wouldn't be fair at all. He insisted just for fun so I let him have a 1 car lead on the jump before I launched. I quickly let out the clutch around 5K, the tires chirped and I shot past him before I was half through 1st gear. I only took it up to 80km/h as is was a road that became a highway but I didn't feel we were far enough outside the city to go that fast. By that time I was probably 1.5 cars ahead already. Later on he told me that was was pissed that I let off so soon b/c he was getting a lot of wheel hop and as soon as he smoothed out, I had already let up.

Then coming back to the city on the highway I was behind him and we both hit it around the bottom of 2nd. We ran through all of 2nd and all of 3rd. I gained a few feet in 3rd but that was it.

No doubt his passengers slowed him down some but it was nice to see that what I read about a stock SRT-4 and a stage 2 WRX being comparable from a roll was true.

This next weekend I am installing the VF30 Cobb stage 2.5 and he in putting in a mopar stage 2 setup. So we'll see how things go after that.

    nice!

I did a run at the strip with 3 people in my wagon. Still managed to squeak the tires and do 16sec run on stage 2.

vf30 yum... I just ordered mine. going to have it in with in a month I figure. desided not to do a vf23. still did fmic but not sure about it. ra gears and act clutch will be next for ya. anything over stage 2 ya better be planing for it.

you ran 16 seconds with the extra 3 people? What have you ran with no passengers?

Yep, I have already been looking at the RA gears for next summer. I never planned to upgrade the clutch before the tranny, since that could possibly cause breakage, but I suppose with the RA gears it wouldn't be a problem. This is a lil OT, but are people preferring the RA gear sets over the STi gear sets?

Suggest that he install AGP upper and lower motor mounts to avoid wheel hop. It is obviously very bad for axles and will definitely be a bad omen with stage 2 upgrade. Just a thought.

Next time think fast and take one of his passengers in your car. You were stopped at a light they could have jumped in Eliminate as many excuses as you can!
