    Surprised by 300C SRT 8

Took me a second run from a roll to take this full size coffin on wheels. I was just pulling down to a red light ouside of the city limits next to this thing with paper plates. Just moving from second to neutral when the light changed. Since I was rolling I went back to second figuring I would pull him to the single lane merge.

No go. He beat me to the merge and before you new it we were at the next light having topped 120mph. Now that I knew what I was up against it was a different story. Got a great launch and left him by a two lengths to the single lane merge. Stayed in the throttle to 135. He pulled up on me after 100.

I am lightly modded 05 STI. No passengers in either ride.

    Anyway, thought I would share.

Are you sure it was a SRT8? I would have thought they would be quicker. What do you have done to your STi?

The SRT-8 would probably hose an STi from a roll. Mods?

And trap at 110mph...but I can't remember where I read this.

This is one Chrysler that I would not mind driving.

Hey gents, Stage 2, cold air intake, 100/91 octane gas mix 60/40. Stock exhaust. I had Esplier cat back with neglible HP gain.

    Researched the 300C SRT-8, V8, 425HP, 420lb-ft, 4390 lbs. 1/4 mile 13.3 at 108. Top speed 165. Cost $45,295

I am thinking modded rex's will stay with this car and beat it from a stop. Anyhow, it was very interesting. If you have to opp to run one, suggest that you take him from a stop. Nothing agressive, just 4K RPM clutch and throttle. Hope they are done by 120MPH or so. Oh, and hope that the one you are running did not supercharge. They are readily available for Dodge V8.

If it just wasn't so ugly..........

I seriously doubt it was an SRT-8. They just started to ship last week and no delaers even have them yet. Anyways, no one is buying these 4100lb cars to go race quarter miles People are buying them because they are very roomy, really luxurious, well built, relativley cheap and still fast enough when you need it. Having said that, I would still be VERY tempted to get it supercharged. That way I could "roll" in style and then go whoop some ass in races

The local Ddge dealer in Thousand Oaks, Ca. told me that the car was in the area for 2 weeks. 17 orders were taken. It is in Northern Ca. first week of April. He told me that car had displayed "manufactuer or distributor" temporary plates but I did not notice. He could not tell me who was driving.

With 17 cars on order for South Ventura County I will have plenty more opportunites I am sure. We are talking about an area of about 800K people. I think that this will be a successful seller.

Too many f'n cars go as fast or faster than the STI nowadays. I'd give my left nut for a LS2 in the STI.... Hemi that Dodge!

First off, you must not value your nuts very much and second, even if an LS2 could fit inside an STi, it would make the vehicle far too heavy to be effective
