Not sure if it's under WOT, or under load (such as climbing a hill). But yes, you are correct.Originally posted by MisterX
I recall a thread, either here or at NASIOC, which explained that the AC cuts out automatically under WOT.
Am I wrong?

Yep it does cut off the A/C clutch at WOT. That doesn't help under partial throttle conditions, or to stop water from draining from the evap. core on to the track surface though. Officials poo poo that kind of stuff.![]()

dont forget all the gas you save without the ac on all the time too
I live where it gets 110 daily during the summer. There's a couple WRXs around here, one of them being warg0blin's. His car drives a lot differently with the AC off...while my car just pretends it's not on and freezes my face until it falls off.
Plus at high altitude, the compressor dogs the car like an anti-turbo (or reverse turbo?)!

Hey guys I think I cut the wrong (purple) wire (from the two), my ac stopped working all together. Weird, should I cut the other wire too, I mean what else can go wrong right ? Please let me know if any of you had this problem and what was your solution. i guess i can always put it back the way it was, but disabling ac during defoggers seemed like a good idea. Thanks
Injection is nice, But i'd rather be blown ! ! !
i don't know if anything has to do with this but my rex is an 04 model

Yeah. I want to do this also because I can't stand to drive w/ the A/C compressor popping on and off all of the time. Seems to make it a little harder to shift smoothly if you don't know exactly how fast the engine is going to drop RPM while the clutch is in. I also like to run w/ the winshield/foot position.Originally posted by REX04

So, considering REX04's problem, maybe it matters which purple wire you cut?

Did this to my 02 wagon today when I installed my OEM STi boost gauge (sits on the left instead of the right). Followed Wade-O's directions and it works as advertised. AC now is an option when on defrost & defrost/floor instead of auto-on in these positions. w00t!
Has anyone confirmed that he 04's have a different setup here?
Cheers,

I did this 1 month ago in my 04. Worked fine. The two purple wires going into the plastic thing are like the same wire, just spliced into the connector in the middle of the wire, so it seemd to me when i did it that cutting either one would do the same thing. Anyway, it looked like the pictures and works great! Thanks!

What about '05? Also do the DRL and fog light w/ hi-beam mods work the same with '05s?Originally Posted by Teep

I just completed this mod...now I am AC free when I want to beLooking at REX04's post I got nervous by cutting any wires so I just removed the screw holding the switch into place and tucked the switch back behind everything. Hopefully it will not get wedged sometime and turn on the AC all the time...but I guess it will be any easy fix if that happens.
On another note, I was going to remove my stereo but I stripped clean one of the screws holding a grounding wire to the side of the stereo![]()
