2014 Hatchback WRX same price as new?

There is a dealership selling a 2014 WRX Hatchback (Base trim) for $26,800. The 2015 model goes for $26,500, which is more expensive. Looking at KBB and other sources, it seems like this is the standard price.

What's going on here, and what weird world have I stepped into where car values go up the longer you have them. Also, should I buy? It's WR Blue and a hatchback which I want. I think I might do it.

    Welcome!

There is no 2015-2016 WRXs/STI hatchback.
So the demand for hatchbacks is way up.
And yes, you could pay more for a 2014 hatch than you would for a 2015 sedan.
Is there a particular year you are looking for?

Not necessarily. In order for my bank to finance me, it has to be 2010 or newer with 100,000 miles or less. The one I'm looking at is 2014, but with 33,000 miles. I figure if you're putting that many miles on it a year it's probably a lot of interstate driving. The clutch is the main thing I'm concerned about.

Thanks for the reply. Any recommendations? So far sounds like I'll be a proud WRX owner come Saturday morning!

Yea i noticed the same thing when i was shopping for a WRX a few weeks ago and its pretty crazy. Actually was looking to get a 2014 hatch or sedan and ended up just buying a new WRX because of the price. I couldnt get away from the thought for paying the same for an older car with miles on it(and i've been drooling over the new ones every time i see one so it worked out).

If you want the hatch, then go for it. I guess i would recommend the normal things to do like check carfax, etc.

Hope it works out for you and snap some pics come this Saturday!

Yeah same thought process here, but there are two things pushing me to pull the trigger. 1) Is that I have a dog, ~85 lb and he probably would like the hatchback more 2) Is the car comes in WR Blue, and I'm impatient, so by buying now I don't have to wait.

Also, I figure if it's worth this much now it'll probably hold it's value really well until Subaru releases another hatchback (2017 maybe?)

Yes pup pup would like it better with more head room.

Haha my patients got the best of me as well because i was actually driving to a diff dealer to put a down on a WR Blue that was in transit but ended up taking a detour to a nearby dealer that had a dark gray and purchased it that night. Good thing i really like both colors.

Yea, i agree. It will def keep its value.
