    Question 06 WRX STi Questions

Hey everyone, I'm looking at a 2006 WRX STi in my area and I had a couple questions about the price and condition of the car.

The car looks IMMACULATE for being 8 years old, however it does have 150k miles on it. The owner is asking $15k. I've seen a lot of 96 STi's on craigslist, autotrader and ebay for quite a bit more (18-25k) however they all have fairly low miles (less than 100k). KBB lists the cars estimated value at $13.5k in excellent condition with 150k miles on it. Does anyone have any insight as to whether or not I'd be paying more or less than I should?

Second question I had is whether or not the STi every came with black cloth seats. I've seen a ton of STi's with blue cloth seats that have the STi logo on them but never black cloth seats. It appears that the owner switched out the STi seats for WRX seats at some point, maybe due to wear?

    Thanks for the help!

Do you have a link to the ad or photos of the car?

150k miles is pretty high so I'd be concerned with what regular maintenance has been done. That car would need timing belt, clutch and a few 30k mile services if those haven't been done already.

As for the seats it's hard to say without seeing them. Could be aftermarket or could be stock, pictures of them would help.

The mileage/maintenance issue was a concern I had as well. I need to call and ask about maintenance records. I attached a picture of the front driver's seat.

The previous owner swapped with WRX seats. It does have the blue STi carpeting, however.

Let's see some more pictures. I want to see engine pictures.

Those seats look like WRX seats for sure.

I can't see very well in the picture but does it even have blue carpet?

Yeah, I figured those were WRX seats... makes me wonder why he replaced them. I've never seen a reason to replace a seat in a car, unless it was absolutely thrashed, and this guy seems to have taken pretty good care of the car.

It does seem to have the blue STi carpet, however most of the interior pics are pretty underexposed, so it's hard to tell.

Here's a pic of the engine bay.Click image for larger version.

    Will do.

If the owner ends up being able to provide documentation for all maintenance and mods, and it runs well, how many miles would I expect to get out of this car? I know that's a hard question to answer, but I'm trying to figure out a ballpark number.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I guess I'll just have to go inspect it in person. I'll post back here once I do so.

Why wouldn't you? The idea behind it probably came after a very drunk Wednesday afternoon.
