    Questions before buying first Subaru

Hi guys my names Nick. I've always been a mustang guy growing up. I currently daily drive a 99 ford ranger with a 302/t-5 swap from a mustang, and its cool and all but im looking for a more reliable daily driver/winter vehicle all in one. So first thing that came to mind was the STI. Now I don't have any experience with Subaru's but im anxious to get my hands on one. I found an STI, I like that's in my area. Here is the link: Subaru WRX STI 2004 WRB

I talked to the guy and he said he would take 14k cash for the car and he has a all the paper work for the engine rebuild and what not. Do you think this is a good deal or is it risky due to the high mileage on the body. If you guys could just check out the link I posted and give me any feedback before I buy the car, that would be great! Im anxious to be driving a Subaru but im willing to wait for the right one, so if you guys think this would be a bad buy, feel free to talk me out of it.

    Thanks Guys!

Have you considered why a Japanese car that is roughly ten years old (read: basically "new") needed the engine rebuilt at such a young age?

It looks like it's been rode hard and put away wet. Try to find one without mods... or at least minimal mods. You'll pay more, but it will be worth it.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I kept looking and found one that's a lot cleaner with the original engine that's almost completely stock.

Run away from that one. You want a reliable daily? Then find one that is as close to stock as possible with as much documentation from its history as possible.
