2007 STi - not sure whether to buy or not

    Hey guys,

Just registered a min ago because I wanted to ask for others opinions on this sti right by me. It has had 5 owners which I kinda think is odd, or maybe they were just trading in for a new sti I don't know. You'll notice on the carfax the car was sold once before at the same dealer. Any suggestions?

Generally, I like to advise people to shy away from modified WRX/STi's unless you are intimate with the tuning/modding history and know who did the work. I would say stay away from this car as it has been modified and you have no idea if it was done properly. Look for stock.

Okay, thank you for the reply. Where did you see that it is modded? All I saw was the Cobb sticker on the inside and immediately assumed that they had done something to it, maybe just a tune not sure. Thanks anyways though I will definitely be staying away I already have a car that's gonna blow up soon enough

My immediate advice, pass. Definitely been modded in the past. Cobb sticker, to me, means it was likely tuned with an AP. Just from looking at the engine bay I see and aftermarket turbo inlet. I think it would be safe to say there is some sort of aftermarket downpipe on there to matte to that clearly non-stock cat back exhaust.

Move on, try to find one with less previous owners and that has never been modded. Yes, it will be hard to find, but they are out there.

I'm more concerned with the light on the dash.

    Buy my car. Lol.
Eventually will need head gasket replaced. Hence the low price.
    I'm in NY/CT.
Third owner. Bought it with 30k miles back in 2009. I put a little over 10k miles in the last 3 years.
Car was modded at EFi Logics in CT. See the link for list mods and power.

I saw that it is modded by looking at the pictures and seeing the modifications

Just at a quick glance from the pics I saw aftermarket wheels, tinted tail lights, stickers, none of which would cause me concern other than bad taste...Then aftermarket exhaust (at least axle back but there are no underbody shots), aftermarket inlet, a wire coming out of the obd2 port (probably a cobb ap based on the cobb sticker), boost guage, shift knob (again no real concern there with a cosmetic mod). Aside from that there are buttons missing on the dash, which would cause me concern about why, and appears that there was once an aftermarket audio system, which would cause me concern of whether or not the wiring is ok. That is all I could tell from the pics, but enough to tell me that I wouldn't want it!

Thanks for the replies guys, I had initially felt the same way when I saw the boost guage and stickers, didn't notice the wires.... I'd rather wait for the right car to come around anyways. I really want a new car but if it doesn't feel right then it wasn't meant to be. Oh and i was trying for dealerships because I don't have 15k to drop lol, I currently own a 94 honda accord on which everything seems to break. need her for work though... wouldn't want to get a new car covered in ****.

Not sure if this thread is just dead now, but what do you guys think of this one? View Vehicle | New Jersey Volkswagen Car Dealer in Rockaway, NJ - Trend Motors VW

Also want to add that I test drove it. Immediately knew it needed rotors from driving it. Also, if I'm in gear and I have my hand resting on the shiftknob I can feel a vibration in it. I have to move it a little bit to get the vibration though. Maybe this is normal... Maybe no one has a clue what I mean by this haha

The shifter is direct linkage on the EJ motors. Vibration is normal.

Don't rest hand on shift knob. Come drive mine and then tell me about noise and vibration...
