I did just what you are thinking , traded in an 09 WRX for a 13 STi , always wanted the Sti but couldn't justify the cost. Pros : slightly more power , just barely though , stiffer ride , but again only slightly , awesome looks , this car gets more compliments and looks than any car I've ever owned , absolute animal in the twisty canyons around here , not much else can touch it , also the 6spd transmission is almost worth the additional cost . Cons : higher initial cost , higher insurance premiums , magnet for all other cars to race , way lower gas mileage , went from 30 highway to no more than 24 ,but I wouldn't go back !

I would say the insurance depends... Strangely, my insurance dropped by a smaller amount when I changed from my 2011 WRX to my 2012 STI. Gas is higher though. You will lose about 2-3 mpg. If I cared, I would own a Prius! Lol!
