$19k for STI, but got new short block, due to broken engine mount. Opinions?

    Hey guys,

Found someone selling their 2006 STI for 19k. One of the engine mounts broke, damaging a radiator hose, thus causing the car to overheat. He repaired the mounts and replaced the short block as a precautionary measure. Body has 90k on it, while the built engine has 40k miles. What do you think?

    Nope.

Sounds like someone is selling to get rid of problems. You need to find one that's stock.

The heads could easily be warped if the engine overheated. Typically Subaru engines that have overheated have chronic head gasket issues.. sounds like he's got a rebuilt shortblock with stock heads and he wants to unload it on someone else.
