I've had my 2011 WRX for a little while now and I'm thinking about trading it in for the new FRS/BRZ. I like my WRX but I've had my fair share of problems with the car including some serious clutch issues which required an entire clutch, throwout bearing, master clutch cylinder replacement from the dealership, all covered under warranty of course and some other miscellaneous things that have popped up during the short time I've owned the car.
I like my WRX but I'm just worried more serious problems may arise in the future... especially the dreaded transmission failure or ringland failure that I've been thinking about trading it in or selling for the new FRS/WRX. I only paid $25,000 for my car and have around 17,000 miles on it so I'm sure I'll be able to break even if I decide to sell it but I was just wondering if I could get any other input about my decision.
I know the WRX is awd but I've actually never really had a use for it because I've got a larger SUV I take when I need to go off roading or up to the snow. The FRS/BRZ looks really great and gets better gas mileage.
Decisions decisions....

What Will said. The BRZ is a completely different animal from your current car. A valid reason for purchasing one would be that you want to skew more towards a "driver's car", that is, not a straight-line rocket, but one that handles very nicely. The BRZ/FRS is on my short list to consider, assuming I'm still gainfully employed in about 9 months.

If I didn't live in a state that snows for a few months a year I would have gone with a FRS lol.
I agree with what others have said. Go drive a brz. It's a totally different ride. It might feel underpowered compared to your wrx. Just go in their knowing that. If you stab the gas at 3-4k in second in the brz. Expect a whole lot of nothing compared to your wrx....but the handing. Man that little car will carve up the canyons like no other. I test drove one for the heck of it when I went to test drive the wrx/sti.
Overall I'd say not a bad car for $25000. I personally would miss the turbo and the torque. But if corner carving is your thing and you can live with a little 2 door coupe. then you can't really go wrong with the brz.
