I recently bought a 2013 wrx. I loved the look of the new model when I see them on the street. I always liked black, and without ever seeing black in person, I picked the color anyways. After having the car for a few days I notice it does not look as sharp as the other colors. I think its because there is no longer contrast with the finer details of the car. The front back and side grills are black, so black on black just mutes out alot of the details. If I get to choose again, I will go for grey or white.
Also, never let the dealer install swirl marks on your new car. Remember to tell them not to wash or clean the car out. Mine came with some pretty massive dealer installed swirl marks.
Enjoy your car hunting.

So what's wrong about black Subaru? What does the paint do, not do, or whatever
Black paint tends to show swirl marks in sunlight.... and all Subaru paint, because of how ****ty it is, will swirl the worst.
Black is super sexy when properly cared (babied) for. Along with other dark hues, it is the most difficult finish to keep looking good imo.

What about that headlight restoration stuff? That's also supposed to eliminate swirl marks (so it claims) plus with a wax.

It's supposed to be for both. It comes in a yellow bottle we sell in the lobby at our dealership. Never used it yet.
