Should I buy a WRX?

I have a bugeye and I love everything about it. It's very basic interior which some might not like but I prefer simplistic interior even on the newer models its still very basic.

Maintenance wise on wrxs they can be a pain IMO I have more maintenance with the wrx than my last car, but you got to expect that with any performance car.

What makes the maintenance a pain? Just the fact there is more of it?

The issue I assume you are referring to affected only a particular number of 2009 models built within a certain time frame.

Okay I didn't know exactly what people were talking about just came across some posts that advised to make sure engine problems were cleared up.

Have there been any reports of surging

I have not seen any reports of surging. Most people were saying the problem was due to the stock tune.

When in doubt ,or even otherwise, test drive the car before you decide to buy it.

I will definitely test drive. I just wanted to clear some questions up first. Going from a civic lx, there is almost no way I won't fall in love with the car once I drive it. So I wanted to clear some things up before I clouded my judgement. But from all the post so far I think I am ready to start looking.

I have one. Put it on the first week I had it. I love mine and I recommend one

Did you get it done at the dealership or a local shop? And what was the cost?

Yeah, i added a sound processor, amp and subwoofer.

Went Stage 1 via Cobb AP
H11 low beams changed out for H9 hyper whites
DRL/hi beams & fogs upgraded to yellow 3100k bulbs
Weathertech floor liners
35% tint
OEM Cargo net in the trunk
OEM bumper guard

-waiting on my cobb short throw shifter / bushings and my winter wheels / tires

Probably go Stage 2 in springtime...

Its actually very little if you stop and think about it and thats after you factor in the fact that its a performance car.
Only things that needed to be fixed were problems caused by the dealership. And 1 leaky valve cover gasket.... on a 100k+ mile car. Normal.

H11 to H9 conversion. DIY with temps - NASIOC

look at the first and third picture in that thread. i actually shaved both taps because i'm also running the heavy duty wiring harness with my H9's and it was a tighter fit than the factory harness.

Harness: H11 Heavy Duty Wiring Harness | PLUG-N-PLAY | Wire Upgrade H11 H8 H9

*pics stolen from the thread linked above, but you can google H11 to H9 conversion and get plenty of hits for other forums / cars. You don NOT technically need those Heavy Duty harnesses either. the H11's are 55 watt bulbs and the H9's on headlightbulbs.com are 65 watts
