good buy for a daily driver?

I would hesitate to buy a grey import 15 years old for daily driving. I'd buy it for a fun second car though.

My 05 WRX is my daily.... granted as a college student with an above average weekly driving distance I really should have gotten something a lot more economical.

    My daily is a Toyota.

The '05 US WRX and the '97 grey market STI are not comparable. Lots of evolution in that span, and lots of water under the bridge.

Fun 2nd car for me, no more, and I'm down south where life is easier for the car. Just IMO.

If you already have a Toyota and cash money, go for it.

You're right. Even though they are completely incomparably my 05 is probably just a little more dependable. Just a little bit more. It was still a bad choice on my part as a student, livable but still bad. That was my point.

You did OK. My first choice as a student was a 914. I had actually preferred an X1/9 but that didn't even survive the test drive - overheated. University is a great place to learn to make mistakes.
