If something cannot be proven it is unlikely science. At best it's philosophy. Are philosophers good motor designers? Are they good mechanics, in case you follow their advice and need one?
Instead of data, the main argument by the gurus is "I said so" and "I know better." That, and repetition.
If you can find a guru with a great insider break in trick and she or he is willing to guarantee your motor for 59.999,00 miles just like the manufacturer then go for it... Your motor, your call.
