    MustardTiger's 2017 WRX: A Guide to Mediocrity

I am new to the Subaru community. My previous vehicle was a VW GTI slightly modified to keep up with stock WRXs. I love the WRX is an all its utilitarian, brutish glory. I have waited I while to join this community and I excited to finally be a member. As such I will be keeping a modest journal covering the experience of owning the car and the limited modifications I plan on doing. Hopefully, this will be able to serve as basis for product reviews and a couple of small write-ups on a few things. I plan on doing some minor weight reduction. I know that is kind of a crap shoot so we will where that goes. In addition to the weight reduction expect the usual brakes, wheels and exhaust modification. Thanks for taking the time to check out my car.

Any advice or product information is greatly appreciated. I am very accepting of constructive criticism.

Here are some pictures of the parts set to go on. I will get some good pics of the car when it comes in. Still have about 10 days or so before it is due in.

Thanks. I don't know about you, but I could no longer stand front wheel drive.

Likewise, not to mention I was on my 4th water pump, got tired of changing those out.

Hey good to see ya, buddy! I heard you dissolved the Dirty Burger partnership with Randy because he was high all the time. Thomas and Jacob doing ok?

I'll be following the Subaru build thread with interest. Welcome.

Alright, so here is the first update for the thread. The car came in a little earlier than expected. Fortunately that means I can do a few things before my doctoral program starts this week. The first thing I wanted to do is go ahead and get a solid figure on the weight of the vehicle. Some real world measurements. I took the car down to the scale today and had her weighed. I attached the a scanned copy of the sheet here for proof. This should give a good idea of the weight savings as I go along with the car.

    Specs:
    Base WRX; absolutely no options
    No fogs
    Manual Transmission
    17"inch wheels
    Full tank of gas
Noting removed since devilry was taken two days ago

Nice purchases, curious as why you opted away from the quad exhaust? That feature alone makes the rear so much more aggressive looking

John, in the OP's first post he stated that he was planning on doing some minor weight reduction. My best guess he went for a single exit exhaust was because of just that, weight reduction.

No problem, but again that is just my guess based of what the OP has posted so far, he may have a totally different reason for doing it though lol

Yup, I did ditch the quad-tips in favor of the single exit for the weight savings. I debated this a little bit. Apparently the stock exhaust may be light when it comes to weight. I found some hard numbers a little tough to pin down. Hopefully, my humble little thread can shed some light on the subject. The Q300 is definitely not light from what I can tell just picking it up. I plan on picking up a bathroom scale (should be accurate enough for this application) and weighing all the parts that come off and go on.
