Engineered Autocross 2015 WRX Machine of Awesomeness.

This car will be a non-competitive autocrossing monster (because screw ASP class...), and still will be my daily driver. I will find things that are not performing upto spec of what I'm trying to accomplish and I will then change them out even if I have to design from scratch. My daily will also hopefully be reliable. I'm building this car for superior handling, not for a certain "power number" that most seem to want to accomplish. If the car doesn't have the acceleration I want, I'll start swapping performance parts, but right now I think I barely get to use the horsepower it has. The main goal of the car will be an autocross and daily, and will see some track time whenever I get the spirit and funds upto par to go see what I can do on the track.

I've had a lot of help building the car along the way from various companies (not quite sponsors), and it's only going to get better as the year goes on.

Racecomp Engineering , JSCSpeed, Phatbotti Tuning.
A big thanks to all of you who answered my thousands of questions, especially Justin @ JSCSpeed for giving me a lot of real life driving data on the parts he has on his car.

Bought my 2015 in June/July (not sure exact date anymore), has 4000+ miles on it (when I posted) and climbing (it's at 14k now in April). I love this car and love driving it. I've started to autocross for the first time and love every bit of that too. Looking to maximize my time autocrossing, keep my daily driver a solid/reliable car, and maybe get a little frisky and add some more power to those wheels. Trying to learn everything I can about the fa20dit before I add anything.

This car has been a DD/autocross car. And I've been loving every minute of it. I also have an 03 miata, and an 04 cbr600.

    Some photos:

    Reason for tuning:
Tune from PhatBotti tuning. Cobb's OTS tune gives me a lot of knock in 2nd, and I can't have that on the AX course. I've already contacted them a bunch about it...mostly fed up. The 3rd gear pulls look great, but the 2nd pulls need a lot of work.

    Performance / Transmission:
Protuned by Mike Botti (Phatbotti tuning)
    Perrin shift stop
    Perrin Brass Bushing
    Mishimoto Weighted Shift knob
Invidia N1 Single Catback exhaust, no resonator
    Lightweight Crank Pulley

    Suspension / Brakes / Tires / Wheels:
    RCE Yellows (amazeballs)
22mm Rear Sway bar (it's set to full stiff)
    Perrin Spherical Endlinks
    Hawk HP+ Pads
    Stainless Steel lines
    Stoptech STR 600 Fluid
    Dunlop ZII 245/40-18
    Enkei Raijin 18x8.5 +38

    Useless mods:
    Rally Armor
    Hellas
    Grimspeed License Plate Relocation Kit
    Perrin Dropin Filter

    Custom Mods:
    Water intercooler sprayer
Custom heat shield for the airbox/maf sensor

    Wishlist of mods to date:
    IAG Air/oil Sep.
    IAG EGR Deletes
    E85/mix Tune
    TMIC/FMIC
    A true CAI

And I have a headunit.. thinking of an under-the-seat sub/amp

The struggle between wanting to run in SCCA and figuring out what class I would be in, and how that changes my mod path...IS REAL.

I'll have some theory upgrade paths written down here later.

Because of those springs I'm in STX currently (but i need a tune map that doesn't touch stock boost levels). Need to consider paths and what I think I want to do with the car this season. More to follow!

A friend sent me a lightweight crank pulley from Perrin that I need to install. (First install attempt was unsuccessful, need big breaker bar)

TGV Deletes from TiC on the way! And a shifter "bearing" which is supposed to help with things. The latter was 10$, I don't have many expectations.

A hollow sway bar combo from RCE should be out soonish!

    Coming soon(april): BOXERFEST!!!! Autocross!

Scenario1: Keep T6s, buy 245/40s of the sticky tire variant (not sure what brand just yet)
    Scenario2: Sell t6s, buy lighter wheels (maybe 17X9ET45 KOSEI K6R , Sub20lbs each) , buy sticky tires

Get corn tune after installing tgv-deletes and retune for 93.

Later mods: (as of right now..)
    FMIC - vendor tbd
    1.5way LSD
    not sure vendor jpipe
    IAG OCC

Edit: Have decided to just run SCCA and get my ass kicked, give zero ****s about what "class" i'll place in. This year it'll just be for fun for some driver mods. Next year I may be more competitive..

    BRAKES!!!

I felt that the 2015 WRX is underbraked from the factory. Don't go for more power before you address the brakes!

Sorry, failed to mention. I'm on HP+ pads. And they are incredible. I agree with you 100000%, brakes are the first upgrade for anyone with this car.

Lines + brake fluid should be addressed too.

I have SS lines waiting for warm weather - to be installed, and I need to buy some real fluid. I'm really... REALLY.. hoping that it fixes the pedal feel a bit.

Lightweight crank pulley installed! Thanks to Zax's muscles. SS Lines are in a box waiting to be installed.

I bought Enkei Raijin 18x8.5 +40 wheels and Dunlop ZII 245/40 - which should be delivered by the weekend along with my brake fluid.

First AX event is on the 21st!

Oil change will happen today (at like 4800 miles on this oil, 12k total).

Not sure when I'll have time to install brake lines and fluid, but whenever I find time to do it, is the answer.

    PROGRESS! Spring approaches!
