My Dream Car Has Finally Arrived.. TIME TO PERSONALIZE!

Continued from the new members discussion...

"So about 4 years ago I owned a 2004 WRX. I was a little too young to handle a car like that so it resulted in speeding tickets and me selling the car to pay court fees. Fast forward to now. I haven't gotten a single speeding ticket in 3 years and I literally thought about my Subie everyday. The 2003 Legacy Wagon I had just wasn't cutting it. It was a tad bit boring for me. Went out and found myself a 2013 Subaru WRX Premium with 33k on it. The car was amazing and in great condition. Wasn't owned by some 20 year old. Took her for an hour long test drive... and then another hour long test drive .... let's just say I killed half a tank of gas test driving it making sure everything was in good working order. So I went to my bank and 20 minutes later walked out with a very large treasurers check. Bought the car and was ecstatic. Went outside to call Liberty Mutual and they worked out a quote of $14,000 a year. About $1200 a month. I died a little inside. Went back inside and told them that I had to return the car. After calming down a little bit I figured that I might as well call some other companies. Made a call to Progressive and they quoted me at $314 a month. I was dumbfounded. I kept asking the lady on the phone to redo the quote because that couldn't be correct. She eventually said (very nicely), "Sir, it is a very strange request to want to pay more. We would be happy to take more of your money, but we simply can't." She was extremely nice and patient the entire time. This is with comprehensive, collision, 100/300 liability, etc."
So that's my story! I'm the proud owner of a 2013 Premium WRX. My insurance is now at $165 a month since my tickets have dropped off.

Here she is after a wash and wax after I got her! The dealership did a horrible job detailing it.

I would suggest if you can get them is some rubber washers as a stand off so your license plate does not rub on the paint. As for the hose clamps I would guess 3.5-4in is more then enough. Do you have winter tires from your previous car?

I'm currently on the hunt for some rims for winter tires. I have a couple months to look so I'm not rushing it. That license plate idea is great! Thanks so much for that I will do that tomorrow. I appreciate the advise man!

    Congratulations!
You must be psyched to have it. Mines a 13 also.
Your still paying less insurance than Me. Commerce sux. How old are you? I'm curious about insurance.
You can get cheap flat black rims from Sullivan Tire for about $275 for all 4 then you just need the tires.

I'm 23 years old and am VERY happy with my new insurance rate. So the kartboy short shifter and front and rear bushings are in and I'm stupidly happy with the result. It wasn't too bad to install. Took me three hours from jacking up the car to cleanup and that includes cooking food for the intermission. Also installed the black wrx ornaments which look stunning.I think those should have been on all of the wrxs. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.very satisfied with the results.

About the insurance rates, mine were very low until I got into 2 accidents with my Rex! So depressing but still a manageable amount. Happy to say however, she's sittin fairly pretty for now!

Nice! Gives it a whole different feel much tighter and precise. Wait till it breaks in gets even better.
Josh take a picture of your car and put it on your profile.
I can see the black ornaments. Your right they should have put them on factory, my car is ice silver.
    So ornaments aren't very visible.

Thanks a lot Zax! Was checking out your 2015 STi build a couple weeks back. Awesome stuff man!

I have a question about jacking up this car. I can't jack up the car and fit the jack stand all on the pinch weld because both won't fit. I had to jack it up directly behind the pinch weld and then place the jack stand on the pinch weld. Not sure if that is OK though. Is there any way to jack up the front of the car? There is a plastic shield under there that seems to prevent such a thing.I'm going to be doing the downpipe on Monday and need to know the proper way to do this so I don't destroy the under carriage jacking it up there.

I have them on my red 2012 WRX. I definitely like em a lot more than the silver ones. Once I eventually get some tint on my windows and perhaps even black out the headlights, they will pop even more.

Congrats on your purchase and glad you sorted out your tickets and insurance. Stay safe!

use a good jack stands before getting under the car. use the proper jack points to jack it up. sometimes i use a wood block when jacking it up because my subframe liked to squish with my old jack
