    The GF8 Build

    Welcome to my Build journal

I have always loved the GC8/GF8 Models so I decided to finally go along and build one.

picked up this 99 GF8 one owner from the dealership a year ago for around 400$ had a lot of Subaru parts around so I threw on the WRX bonnet, Interior, JDM STI wheels, D2 Coilovers, and HKS Silent Muffler the same day
and it all began from there.

My JDM STI finally blew its motor, after having several different setups on it, and enjoying the car very much, its had its time and now will donate most its parts to the GF8 Build.

Before I get any questions I also own a 04 USDM Spec STI running 534whp on its last dyno pull, just incase anyone asks why im swapping my GD 04 for a 99 GF lol

and so today the Build Begins

I will try my best to update progress day by day.

Step 1 Get cars out of the House !!

    [IMG][/IMG]

    04 Smoking !

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    1 Out 1 to go

    [IMG][/IMG]

Ofcourse it didn't want to start today..
And as always in the Middle east Safety first with the tow truck driver rocking sandles !!

    [IMG][/IMG]

On our way to the industrial area where the swap will be done

    [IMG][/IMG]

Unloading the 04...Shame It died pulled 380 whp on a stock block at some point

    [IMG][/IMG]

My 99 GC8 Half cut will use the engine and some other parts off it for the build

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    And that's day one !

Tomorrow we start with the actual swap and build.

    The Plan.

Rear Subframe, Fuel tank & Pump, Gear box, axels, brakes. from the 04
Engine, wiring and ecu from the half cut.

once its all up and running, fender flairs, rear skirts and a full paint job.

Your comments, Replies, and any tips will be much appreciated
    thanks for reading.

Very interesting! Where are you located? Looks to be an Arabic nation considering the license plates.

Interested to see what country/region it is exactly. Maybe Palestine? No, yellow license plate though, so I doubt it. Is it Oman? And if you're American it's probly Masirah. Final Answer. Did I win the million dollars?

Okay so here's a few updates

Got the engine out of the half cut yesterday, bumper grills & Lights off, and we started stripping down the STI, its accually breaking my heart to see it being stripped down.
but the excitement of doing this build just takes over heres a few pics,
was rushing today so more detailed pics to come soon.

    Only the shell remains

Engine out and gearbox out of the half cut

    Subframes out

and that's what was done today, ill update the progress tomorrow..

but heres a question should I keep the Wrx interior and go for the classic JDM look ? or swap in the STI' seats ?

So you're using the engine from the front clip of the old WRX...but the rest of the drivetrain and brakes/wheels and peripherals from your dead STI?

I think that's what I see going on here

yup pretty much for now...I got the Sti block pulled apart and it needs some work, so its going to get built, then thrown back in this.
but since I have this old wrx sitting around
    labour's cheap
    why not ?!!
oh and btw that old wrx, with just the boost bumped up to 0.8 Bar, keeps up with a stock USDM STI !
