making my 2010 go stealth mode!

    Hey guys,

Just some questions im finding hard to answer. First I will be modding my car come spring and after I do the usual starting mods (exhaust, intake, black front mount, sway bars). I will no long need my hood scoop and since my car is based off the 2010 impreza I was hoping to replace my hood with the "no scoop" base impreza hood.

what I was wondering is the 2008-2010 impreza hoods be a simple bolt off bolt on procedure? will I have to modify the hood at all? will it mess with cooling?

I know its not the normal to make your Subaru more like an impreza but I love the idea of blowing "non-Subaru junkies" (and maybe some junkies) away.

what do u guys think of the project I have in mind?

    thanks guys,

    Donavan

Will u be going from tmic to fmic? If not, that might be a bad idea being you need that opening for the tmic.

Just so you know, a FMIC is not one of the usual starting mods. You won't really see much benefit from that mod as a starting mod. Your money would be much more effective spent elsewhere. When you say "exhaust" do you mean axle back, cat-back, or turbo back? If you mean turbo back, you will need to tune for it. You will certainly want to tune for the intake. What brand intake are you going for? I only ask, as to possibly save you the hassle of buying a crappy one.

    Welcome!

+1 to everything here. trust me, i've been craving over a FMIC & scoopless hood for years. it looks ridiculously clean, however i know my performance would only decrease from having a FMIC so i've never done it.

Ooh,hang on. That is the throb of a turbocharged flat four engine. A sound which, all over the world, heralds the imminent arrival of a moron - JC.

Yes I am aware that a front mount is not a beginning mod but probably in a year or so I want to crack the engine open and rebuild it. after market turbo and so on. I am quite knowledgeable when it comes to cars so I know my exhaust will be a turbo back and after everything is done I already know a dino place which would retune my car. As for exhausts I was looking at Inivia exhausts. Im always open to suggestions though! What do u think? I also am aware that the front mount is not as "fast" as a top mount because it is farther away from the engine but I LOVE the look plus im hoping with a black front mount it will look as if there is nothing there.

List in order of my mods

Good set of both winter and summer tires (done)
    Cold air intake
    turbo back Exhaust
    new oil pump
    "RETUNE"

sway bars and maybe some stiffer suspension

then when I have the time/money
    -front mount
    -new hood

after that a long list of brake upgrades and an engine rebuild *wont be for at least a year*

im trying to use high quality parts to make my car last as well as I wont be doing any crazy aggressive tunes (maybe one for on the track)

    What do u guys think?

Thanks for the pics!!!!! the only thing that sets my car "apart" is that looks like a 2011+ wrx. My 2010 does not have a wide body kit on it plus I do not have the side decals Plus the car still has a 2.5L engine that they changed in 2009!

I THINK the hood would be a direct bolt on. You might be able to find someone to swap with, someone who's trying to get the WRX look for the n/a Impreza. With luck even the right color. When it happens, let us know the outcome.

Invidia is definitely a high quality and popular brand exhaust. Can't really say much there, good choice (I have a turboxs and love it, but invidia Q300 is sweet).

Other than the input I already gave on the FMIC not really being a great early stage mod, the plan seems good. What kind of intake are you planning? Also, are you planning on just getting the car pro-tuned (that's what it sounds like). Definitely will have a better tune going that route than an off the shelf map (assuming its a good tuner).

The sway's/endlinks are a solid beginning mod, especially on the earlier 3rd gen cars, as the car has a fair amount of roll. With you brake upgrades, good pads/SS lines and a fluid flush go a long way for performance upgrade (and relatively cheap too).

There's nothing "stealthy" about that before/after at all. If people assume that cars are quick solely because of a hood scoop, well....I can't imagine how fast that Geo Metro with twin hood scoops I saw this morning really is. Probably has a 7.2L Boxer Twin Turbo Supercharged Diesel AWD swap.

I would see stealth more as looking as stock as possible.
