Hello old friends been awhile since I've posted, went thru alot but me and Emily are still together somehow haha.
Anyways just got plans to bring it back into the beauty she was, all the maintenance after this crappy winter is over and fix my bumper mounts as my front splitter decided to scoop up the snow and rip off of my car so I have my other bumper on it now not the prettiest but it gets the job done!
Thinking about a different color scheme or just getting new badge overlays because mine are faded as far as performance the only parts on my horizon are suspension/drivetrain and maybe an intake again!
She's almost at 42,000 miles but if i get deployed she won't be putting too many on while I'm gone, but I'm certain on keeping her now and coming back to the forums cuz i missed you guys!
So after a long winter (part of which I spent in hawaii) I had my car washed and waxed and what a difference that made, even though it got dirty again right away.
As far as my build goes i have recently realized how much harder these guys drive than a "competitor" -Mazdaspeed 3 which was a very fun car and easy to have fun in but does not handle anywhere close to my wrx and was awful in the snow given it had Hankook V12 Evo summer tires.
So I'd like my build to be very track oriented cus it's not getting any more comfortable from here out haha. But that little trade made me wanna keep my car and consequently made my friend trade that in for a 2015 WRX DGM. ?
Changed out my air filter for a dry reusable filter my idle feels smoother after doing that and cleaning my MAF. I wiped down the top half of my motor and plastics under the hood so it's looking like new again without all that corrosive salt all over. Along with detailing the inside of my car I also would like to try to acquire black A B C interior pillars as well as my headliner.
Once it gets warmer I plan on changing the cabin filter, spark plugs and painting my other wheels. I also need new bumper mounts to support my bumper with the splitter and hopefully get into some autoX once it warms up!
Car looks good, man. Just to touch on an old topic, did you ever figure out what they had to do to fix you turn signals? Did you end up paying for it? Just wondering because I have intermittent turn signal issues on BOTH sides on my '11.
Did a little bit of reading today, can't even begin to say how helpful it has been since I got the car and begun better understanding each and every modification, great little book fairly cheap too of Amazon! Still deciding on colors for my car but I might be selling my wheels and if I do 17x9 will be my next step up with some fat tires.
I drove my friends 2015 wrx the other day aswell! Interior is definitely an improvement over mine but as far as driving it the steering felt heavy and the clutch too soft for my liking but it handled very well for a stock car.
I did my first oil change ever today! Might I say it was super easy and I'm never going anywhere else for it again! I took some pictures for anyone else interested in how easy it is. Here goes my noob DIY Oil change!
They had a sale on Mobil 1 full synthetic (5W-30) with a Mobil 1 oil filter
So I saved over $45 doing it myself as opposed to a stealership or quick lube. I always thought it was harder on our cars but the bottom tray was only 3 bolts (12mm) and two tabs on the sides near the wheels.
Side tab in the fender well (flat head screwdriver)
Down under tray removed oil filter near the exhaust same with the drain plug (17mm)
With all my oil changes I clean my MAF sensor it has helped any bad gas mileage or rough idle issue I've ever had, and they aren't cheap so take car of it!
And to top it off I rotated my tires one last time before my summer set comes back, this time a new color!
That's good you started to do your own maintenance. Since I bought mine, I haven't been to the dealer for oil change. I had my friend do it first then me since.
Just so you know, Mobil1 Is traditionally the only "Bad" oil for our cars, it seems to have increased metal deposits on Blackstone Labs analysis, as well as vastly increased blowby. Just a heads up. If you're switching your own oil nowadays, may be time to switch to T6, or if you're a fan of 5W-30, try Amsoil Signature Series 5W30
I think Mobile 1 is just OK, as long as you do an oil change at no more than 3k miles. Mobile 1 full synthetic 5w-30 has been known to shear in high heat turbo engines within an alarmingly fast time frame.
Wow great to know guys thanks I've been getting Mobil one from the oil change place so good to know I won't be doing that anymore I have seen all the guys who do RT6 so maybe I'll give that a try because I'll be getting into auto cross again soon so need that extra protection with my car being past the warranty.
Side note: if anyone's throw out bearing is being noisy any suggestions?
Hey all with this nice weather I've taken to more emily time so on with deciding a new color scheme...
I put my red pin stripe back on my grill and peeled the gold plastidip off to reveal the red hella horns!!
I ordered the side brackets that support the bumper so with a little modification I will replace my current ones (that have a hard time holding up my bumper with the splitter) i reinforced the splitter with more nuts and bolts and bigger washers for the support rods.
Hard to see the red Hellas but it looks good!
I also had to order new quick releases because they don't sell the bands separately so I went with a grey which will be the color I paint my wheels (sorta) and sand down and paint my lug nuts red or grey or black?!
So I wrapped my radio bezel with carbon fiber and started to spray my A pillars but the weather hasn't been too nice so I'm holding off until its warmer. Anyways prepare 4 teh photo dumppp
So I hit 3k on my Mobil 1 oil and filter so I went and got two gallons of RT6 (shell rotella T6 5W-40) which is something I'm new towards seeing as it's diesel truck oil (scary I know!) but it has made my motor quieter and improved my gas mileage up to 24.7mpg average on my car not bad for stage 2 wrx!
Changed my cabin air filter after never touching it while I owned Emily but look at that difference it made!
Found out rally armor makes cheap mudflaps, that are plastic not poly-urethane but I put them on re using the hardware from my good mudflaps and they have definitely helped seeing as I have a gravel/dirt driveway.
Flaps are extra low for teh stance kidz
While getting gas the other day I turned my car off then left my key on for about the 2-3 minutes it took to put 9 gallons of super in, I went to go start my car and got nothing no click just dead battery, so had to get a quick jump and it only charged up for 15 seconds before I went and it started immediately if anyone knows what coulda been up? Before I started my car again the ABS and hill assist lights came on and I didn't think anything of it.

This seems odd, if the battery died then it would have clicked. For it to do nothing at all is sort of weird. Did you try turning the key off and letting it sit for a second then retrying?
I love em especially for the price difference they were $17 instead of $170 for Poly urethane but they seem very durable I got them from RSD and I already ran over the rear driver side flap twice and reattached it no problem lol but how did your mishimoto hose work out mine has been fine, Never had an issue.
Those hoses are a bitch.
I had the Gimmick and could never get it to fit right.
I ended up giving it away.
My Grimmspeed TMIC has its own TB hose.
I'm considering getting some T bolt clamps.
Yeah I know I have done this a lot but I am looking to trade my car in sooner than later so a lot of parts up for a good cyber black friday weekend sale
In regards to the above post, I got a new battery and that solved a lot of my problems :rotfl:
Need help immediately!!! My car is immobilized and won't crank/start lights flash, fuel pump turns on all the fuses are okay. I'm thinking it is the key for some reason because I am currently stranded in a parking lot Christmas shopping.
2012 wrx stage 2 50K just got the battery replaced as well as a new air filter (stock)
uh oh. Try maybe disconnecting the battery for a min and reconnecting it. With it being a new battery that shouldn't be your issue although that is the first thing that comes to mind. Maybe the alternator? IDK.
If it happens again, I would suspect an issue with the starter.
I would rule out the ignition switch, or the keys. If it were either, you would get absolutely nothing when you put the key in and turned it. No lights, no power, nothing.
