    Z06 LOL Track Build

    Z06 LOL Track Build

I have already started this build so I will catch you guys up in a few quick posts over the next day or two.

    History:
I purchased this RS in fall of 2012 to build for the 2013 season as a track ****.
This is replacing my 2008 STi that was a little unpractical for a track car financially.

    Goal:
The goal of this RS is to create a well balanced track car on a budget  that in the end will be more cost effective over my 08 STi, yet be just as much fun to drive. Over the course of the 2013 season I plan on getting into time trials and eventually (2014-2015) get into wheel to wheel racing.
For the 2013 season the car will stay street legal as it will not be trailered to all events.

    The tear down
At first I was not certain of how far I wanted to strip the RS as this was still going to be a street car from time to time. As I started to gut the car it made me decide fairly quickly that not much was going back in.

I started into the car by removing all of the seats, carpet, headliner, panels.

Pulling out all of the sound detaining was quite fun. . .

I kept at the removal of all the odds and ends of the interior.

I am going to apologize ahead of time about the crappy pictures, the i-phone is much more convenient than the D7000 while working on the car.

So with a little more time and the help of a friend or two we got some more accomplished on the little turd.

Trans, ABS, brake lines, power steering, AC all got removed.

At some point Pat decided to catch my brake lines on fire. . .

Kept gutting away at the interior.

Yeah those wires did not seem necessarily.

The only Debbie downer on this post is the rust that we found, was a little bit more than expected.

We got all of the glass removed and a little more gutting done in one day, the roof removed late one night.

Trailered the car over to the cage wizards house with some DOM.

    Started with making the plates.

The cage is coming along quite well.

I am learning quite a bit from the wizard, and hand bending the DOM has become quite a work out.

The main hoop 1 attempt perfectly.
