    Hamel's AWDSOME 2013 SWP WRX

Welcome to my 2013 SWP WRX build journal! My name is Nick and reside in Bennington VT. Out of 6 Subaru's this car is my third wrx. My first one was a 2008 hatchback that I soaked a lot of time and money into. Unfortunately after two years of ownership that car was hit on my way back home from visiting family in Pennsylvania. As soon as it was repaired the car was returned back to stock and traded in for a 2011 premium sedan. Once again, my bad luck returned.. This time around I was laid off from work and had no choice but to sell the car after having it only a year. So back in January 2013, once I got back on track with work, I made the purchase on what is now my third wrx. Although I really liked the sedan I got myself back into a hatchback. I have always been a wagon guy and with being an active musician its nice to have the extra space! I will keep this journal updated as much as possible so that you can follow me on my journey. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @nckhml for more photo's!

I will get a better picture with them lit up. Definitely 5x's brighter than the CCFL angel eyes and other than the neon yellow look when they are not lit, theses things look A LOT cleaner.

Thanks! An HID retro is definitely in store for the future. Hopefully I can score a used set of sti hid ballasts, lenses and other hardware so I can swap it all into these ones. Or just take a trip over to lightwerkz lol.

Did you do the pearl black housing repaint yourself? If so, what temperature did you use to safely open the housing and re-seal? I'm not a fan of the chrome housing and would like to do this myself. Also, any special paint that has to be used, or is that personal preference?

I had my body guy spray them in his booth. I don't recommend using cheap walmart or autozone paint since over time it will crack and fade due to uv light. Anyway, my body guy prepped them with an epoxy primer and used an automotive grade ppg paint. The housing paint job will pretty much last forever now lol.

My 08 was hit by an old man back in 2010 so I replaced it with an 11 sedan. I loved the 11 but I'm a 5 door guy so I sold it after having it a year. Got out of payments for a little while and then I had that itch to get another one. As for the invidia, I had the N1 on my last 2 and loved it. No point in having a quad tip exhaust. There's one turbo so there should be one outlet. Yes I have ocd lol

Ouch, luckily it was an 08? =P

Hahaha then I guess I have OCD too! My preference has always been single > dual > quad on Subarus. Just makes sense.

hahaha yes I was glad it happened to the 08. All the more reason to get into the wide body! The only reason why I got the sedan was because the dealer gave me a hell of a deal on it since they needed to move it off the showroom floor.

Im glad you you have the same taste on the exhaust. Great minds think alike! hahaha

So I have been leaning toward another wheel choice.. Since I'm a baller on a budget I am leaning toward the all new Bremmer Kraft BR10 wheels. I have been shopping TireRack.com under the BRZ fitment and have been coming up with a lot more aggressive wheel selections. Now I just need to do a bit more research on as to whether or not this wheel will fit being an 18x9 +42. Please chime in if you have any suggestions and/ or other input!
